Chalk & Cheese
I was working on these two tracks on and off at about the same time and it struck me that they were as different as chalk and cheese, hence the titles.
Chalk is the standard dark ambient soundtrack to the standard sci-fi horror film… a small group of humans explore a vast ( apparently ) deserted spaceship that is orbiting just outside the Schwarzschild radius of far distant binary black hole. As they make their way further into the ship the mysterious sounds , simultaneously organic and mechanical, gradually increase in volume and frequency. And then… 🫣
Cheese is an uptempo jazzy brass (brassy jazz?) creation. 😎
Spookily they both finished up at exactly the same running time 🤔
The YT video shows how Cheese was created using a modified GeoShred control surface to bring the lead instruments in and out…

Chalk was nice, but Cheese is outstanding! If I just heard this blind without a setup, I would swear I was listening to a lost Weather Report session. I definitely heard Zawinul and Shorter in the arrangement and melody. I listened a few times and it kept getting better every time. Really enjoyed this. One of your best!

I also prefer 🧀 in all its forms although listening figures on SC suggest the rest of the world prefer Ambient to Jazz by a factor of 2.5 to 1. Amazing what difference a genre tag can make 🤔
