Latest Tera Pro Update 👌
Has anyone tried the new Tera Pro v2.3.1 update with 8 new synthesis engines added and new presets?
The first update a couple of days ago (v2.3.0) constantly crashed, but Harry has now fixed it and it’s working just great, this app gets so much better and it has to be one of the finest synth apps on the App Store, changing preset halfway through a note does not cut it off, I wish all apps would behave this way.

Yes it’s a great update and well worth trying out the new presets/engines.
Definitely one of my top 5 fav synth in IOS! Because of this one I hardly play any synths on laptop. Really live this synth and all the support from the developer.

Did the update of today fix the annoying unintentional UI jiggles that sometimes happen when you tweak knobs? Haven’t had a chance to check
I am not using a mouse, just my pencil. I have not had the moving screen problem you encountered, I could not tell if it happened with the first update release because as I told you on YouTube Tera Pro crashed as soon as I tried to launch it, but it seems stable at the moment.

It happens with finger, not just mouse. Harry the dev told me it also annoyed him and he’d like to stop it happening, so it was definitely a thing. I noticed the new update today said something about improved touch responsiveness or something along those lines, so wondered if it is now fixed

I have a feeling it'll be based on the Mutable Instrument Clouds Module and as such I hope TeraPro will also gain the ability be loaded as a Midi Controlled Effect so we can pipe in external audio and mangle it and maybe even use as a modulation source
An FX version of Tera Pro would be awesome esp if it gets Clouds (or more likely, CloudZ).
You see, my expectations lean towards better Tera Pro, not another darn IAP. 🤦♂️😅
I'm actually quite comfortable with the current UI paradigm, it took a while to get the grips with taps and long-taps here and there. For the most parts I'm 'friends' with the UI now.
The good thing is that it actually only shows the modules that are used by the current preset and the rest is 'tucked away' and long-tap on the modulation sources brings up the editor overlay for that module (or shaper editor as an example) tap on module headers to expand/collapse the modules, pretty straight forward to be honest.
A full 'modulation matrix' would not fit even on a 13" iPad screen without excessive pan & scroll so I do feel the current way is a pretty good compromise
I’m good with the Tera Pro UI paradigm. I never had a problem with it except for those (visual based) sub-tab glitches. I even propose a simple solution, if you remember.
Scroll or not, I still think that a text-based tree view of all connections would be a godsend. But I don’t expect this to be implemented ever, it’s just an entry from some random user’s wishlist. 😉
I agree. I don’t reach for tera pro that much because of its interface so would welcome anything that makes it easier. Shame as it’s a brilliant app! I probably just need to force myself to use it more.
+100, it's one of the best sounding synth on iOS, but UI is flow killer. It would much better with UI aka Pigments.
Second on the UI, I kind of avoid this synth, and it's a shame as it sounds fantastic.
The UI does present its challenges, but the synth hiding behind it is so powerful and unique it would be a shame if users were to be put off by the GUI and end up missing out.
I love the range of presets in Tera Pro, but no matter how many times I get an explainer from someone I cannot figure out how to add or subtract any modules with this synth or build a sound from scratch. The UI is utterly bewildering to me. I don’t think that will ever change. Thankfully there are tons of presets!
In short, "think backwards".
e.g. if you want to want to add a Filter module between an OSC and AMP, then do the following:
Step 2 can't be done first, as the Filter module will not be visible until it's an input to some other module.
If a patch is edited so that a visible module (let's call it "MOD") is no longer an input to anything, then MOD will vanish. But it retains its settings, so as soon as you make MOD an input to something again, MOD will magically reappear.
If it helps, sketch out a signal flow diagram, showing what module flows into what, then build it from the later modules back to the earlier ones.

What comes before step #1? Any idea where the Default patch is located? How do I begin to build something from zero? The lack of a clearly visible "Default" patch is a point of aggravation. I mean seriously, you have no idea.
Pick any patch, and delete any inputs from the AMP and/or MIXER modules and things will simplify pretty quickly, and you can build back up from there.
You can just load any patch, expand the Amp module at the right, and start building from there. Disconnect unwanted stuff and connect what you want, working backwards. An empty default patch would just be Common and Amp, with no connections. It wouldn't generate any sound.
So there's no equivalent of an INIT (Default) patch.
Click the plus icon at the bottom of the preset menu and it will give you a basic sawtooth patch
Yeah, that didn't happen. It just added to the already loaded patch. This might make a difference, I'm using the standalone version. Although truth be told, I've had no better luck using Tera Pro as a plugin in GarageBand and Logic Pro (desktop) attempting to create a new patch.
This works for me, Tera Pro stand-alone. Open the preset menu, tap "+", it displays "New preset", tap "New" and there it is. Note: I'm using the older version 2.2.0 from last year; I prefer to delay VirSyn updates since they tend to come in flurries.
The reverse module connecting logic is right, but the UI doesn't communicate this properly. Users need to know the synth inside and out before they start playing and experimenting with it. That's unfortunately not good for any musical product.

I know what you mean, but another angle on it might be that a bit of pain (to learn) leads to much gain, because of the caverns of treasure that await the determined explorer.
For example, feeding the RingZ module back into itself as an input creates the most unexpected results,
I.e. controlled feedback loops which ride the edge of chaos, which need to be harnessed like a captive dragon so you can fly on its back rather than being burned alive.
I could post an example or two later.
