Thought I'd pop in here, as Remote Recorder was mentioned above. An update should be rolling out in early January, along with an updated iOS Sound Injector, PC VST, Mac AU, a stand-alone Mac app that will route streamed audio (ideal for using Soundflower), and an updated Remote Sync. All of the iOS and Mac stuff will support Bonjour, which will make set-up a lot easier. If I drink enough coffee, the PC VST may get Bonjour too.
The audio is still going over WiFi, so latency of streaming will depend on your network. Remote Recorder still will have the MIDI toggle of recording (allowing web transfer of perfectly timed recordings).
Remote Recorder is a buck over the winter holidays, as is MIDI over Bluetooth. All the other stuff that works with it is free. It's not as fast as a hardware solution, but it's just a touch cheaper. And it doesn't block your connector port, so you can keep stuff plugged in.

oh, yes -- it worked perfectly. I have a LaunchControl hooked up to the laptop and it was working with the AmazingNoises/DensityGs apps, Effectrix, etc. But OF COURSE Boulanger Labs didn't include MIDI learn an opted to "hardwire" the MIDI CCs to parameters in CSpectral and CsGrain. DERP.

Probably one of the biggest advantages. My music desk looks like a Borg victim. (lol, sorry -- we just watched Trekkies).

Awesome. I haven't done a whole heap with controllers yet but have you been able to route audio from Live through AB? I've just tried via AS anyway and Turnado worked via that, i think i'll just use it for now to transfer and process audio both ways.
Awesome setup anyway, when i bought the iPad i had this hope, nay dream to use it as a real-time fx processor with the icm2+ but then ios 8 came along and like a fool i installed it.
@SBD sounds great! It was the latency that lead me to get the icm2+ for control and sync and i can use the controllers connected to my DAW if that's what you mean.

I had been doing most of my initial tests/runs with AB (using it like Apple's MainStage -- i.e. a gear rack for apps) and everything worked very well. I didn't try Turnado specifically, but I tried the AUFX series, some of the Amazing Noises/DensityGs apps, Effectrix, and Flux:FX and they all worked fine.
Late yesterday, though, I decided to try IAA to see if that eliminated some of the minor crackles I was hearing. I have not done extensive testing using IAA, so please take this with a grain of salt, but my initial impression is that I had less crackles with IAA (using AudioShare as the AB replacement) than I did with AB. I've since changed things up (again) and am now attempting to run the Duet 2 and the iConnectMIDI 2+ through a powered hub(!), so I'll post up about that experience. I did a VERY quick and dirty test earlier and it was surprisingly ok, but we shall see.
I've only tried the iConnectMIDI 2+ on iOS 8 and I have not had any serious issues. I think the problems that I've run into are either due to (1) the app; (2) the combo of apps (mostly it's been iProphet and Reverb-FDN**); or (3) me attempting to use the iPad after it has gone to sleep with the iConnectMIDI 2+ attached to it (derp). I'm on an iPad 4, btw.
**It wasn't until I listened to the recording of this combination in Live that I realized that the crackles/pops were obvious enough that I couldn't ignore them. It's tough when you have a gorgeous glassy/breathy pad going through a gorgeous reverb and you hear a crackle/pop! boo!
Yeah turnado doesn't seem to work in AB and i read that it wasn't possible to pipe audio from a DAW with icm but maybe i misread that. Anyway it does work with AS which is the only app that loads IAAs reliably, i have problems with AB and Auria, stuff just not loading or causing crashes so man i'm glad for that app!
I was also able to pipe audio into Auria using it's input matrix as well so i can set up fx in Auria prior to importing tracks to mix, pretty cool!
It's unfortunate you have crackles at all, from what i'd read people have has similar issues apparently using a shorter or high quality usb cable with a ferrite bead can fix it. Maybe you can chop the good parts out and layer the sounds?
