Minirig came today! I'm busking tomorrow!

See pic!

It sounds fantastic for the size.

However, I think a second would really complement it, as well as the subwoofer.

  • Nice! Available in the US?

  • No, ordered from uk

  • @johnfromberkeley Love to hear further how you get on with it....

  • I' ve been eyeing these for a while, due to the crazy battery life. Wish there was a North American distributor.

    @johnnygoodyear it went ok.

i didn't make any money, but an old man told me to "turn it down, you're being a nuisance!"

so it wasn't a total loss.

  • Where were you? The downtown BART plaza? You gotta head to Rockridge or up to Solano!

  • Whereabouts are you? Will come and listen!

  • how does it compare to those small jbl ?

    Haha nice work!!

  • Damn you trying to bring some music to the world. You're ruining it for everyone who worships khakis and cubicles.

In NYC, street musicians and performers are getting rarer every day. Too bad, there were some great ones.

In front of La Farine on College. Where do you live?

Why don't we just meetup? If there are really a few Berkeley/East Bay people here, let's get together.

I haven't heard the JBLs, so I can't tell you.

I will say it's loud and clean. A great freq response.

Loud is relative, of course. I think it could handle a small crowd of 15-20 outside. It was more than ample at medium volume for a sidewalk playing a full one-man band of drums, bass, jordantron and thumbprism. (i can't say enough about this combination. I'd like to try routing the bass notes to the "D" instrument in Jordantron).

I anticipated liking the Minirig, with the intention of following up with a second one to both double the volume (obviously) and provide stereo.

I imagine if you throw in the sub, and you've got a pretty formidable system. I say that because the bass response is very impressive for these little buggers. I imagine once you offload the sub frequencies to a dedicated woofer, you'd experience even more clarity in frequency response.

Have you seen the crazy Minirig backpacks? Here:

Wouldn't these be great or our Occupy Apple protests for stable IAA and MIDI?!

This right here is the fountain of youth. As long as old (or older) men are barking at you things are OK.

  • No I'm in Oxford UK. When you said you bought it from UK I thought you might be local.

  • I went busking with my ipad rig 2weeks ago. Monday morning so not great. Played for an hour and sold 1 CD for £4 + few coins. Got recruited to play at a local weird electronic music festival in August 2015 so not all bad news :-)

  • @supadom now we should DEFINITELY get together! : )

@supadom I think @johnfromberkeley is onto something. Actually Berkeley and Oxford (although very different) are too very cool places to have lunch :) And make music. A thousand years ago when I lived in Hammersmith I used to jump in a horribly unreliable old Triumph and go up the M4 to Oxford for lunch. Happy days, but no iPads even in my fertile imagination at that point...
