DRAMBO nuGGets

edited August 2025 in App Tips and Tricks

I sat down with Drambo for a few minutes last night with some idea in mind and ended up with a completely different place.

It is perhaps a common thing to think that Drambo is a very complicated app, and it’s hard to argue with that.

I personally can’t deal with complicated. I get bored, frustrated, tired and demotivated when approaching a new app or hardware with a fair amount of complexity.

Still, while I wouldn’t call myself a Drambo expert. I certainly know a fair bit about it but some patches just make my brain melt.

This is why I thought of starting this thread. A place where very simple Drambo contraptions, just a few modules, can be shared. More ideas than patches, patchstorage is already doing it’s bit.

https://patchstorage.com/platform/drambo/

I’d suggest uploading a project file so folks can understand what’s going on without the need to re-patch things.

I’ll start it off with what I came up last night ☺️

  • You don’t primarily use it to load AUv3’s?

Drambo is so nice to lay something down with, I hope it keeps being developed forever.

Drambo is not just a glorified sequencer. Of course you always have the option to do that but there must be a reason I haven’t bought a synth, effect or groovebox app in years.

It easily gained me a lot of flexibility and fun but also saved me 100s of £££. Win/win.

You should try it sometime. 😊

Of course I fall pray to GAS but that’s mostly hardware these days. And even then it ends up being sold on because Drambo and a bunch of controllers can be set just as you like instead of needing to learn a piece of gear or software.

If economy is stagnant blame it on Drambo. 😇

Here’s a simple midi rack that can be used to move between pre-set kick patterns. This can be used with any percussive or non percussive sound. So duplicating it and changing the destination note in sequencer modules will trigger a different note.

So if snare is on D2 all of the sequencer modules within the midi rack will need to be set to D2 and so on.

When th sequencer module window is tapped Drambo’s main sequencer can be used to edit the notes. Remember to tap it again to exit back to the main sequencer.

At the end of the rack there is a very simple example of an analogue kick with pitch envelope and shaper affecting the sound.

  • A thread for uncomplicated but baffling drambo tricks... Good idea.

Here's a little video about one option to generate random drum kits I discovered a while ago. No project file, because I wouldn't want to spread samples without owning the copyright... And some of you might have a sample or two lying around somewhere.
