My understanding is that OP wants something that probabilistically adds ratchets to a sequence that is ratchet free.
You are right @espiegel123.
I read the part about MidiDreams and assumed it was that kind of sequencing @garden is after.
Apologies to @garden and @McD for the confusion.
You can do this in Waymaker. It’s a system he calls Branches. You can set the probability of a second sequence (the ratchet) to trigger at random points during the first sequence. Or just send whatever midi through Waymaker and have it probabilistically transpose a quick repeat of whatever note it receives. Does that make any sense? It’s a weird app to explain with words
I think the issue with that is ratchets are desired on certain steps, with probability of the ratchets occurring settable on that step. Waymaker's branch probability feature is random across the whole sequence. It can't be tied to only certain steps.
Unless I'm misunderstanding. Again. 🙄
Maybe I better go back and re-read the OP another time or two.
I understand. If Waymaker is capable of that I wouldn’t know, but it would probably be very convoluted and not the right choice. The only other one I can think of is Neon. I remember it having a pretty in-depth “matrix” of options, but I can’t check, refunded it cause my iPad couldn’t handle the menus haha
Yeah, Neon could handle that. It's only 8-steps though. You can get a lot of mileage out of the eight, at least.
In let’s say octachron as example, couldn’t you have two separate lanes with the same sample, set one of the lanes to trigger on the step you want the probability to ratchet, set it to ratchet, and then adjust the probability as you see fit? This leaves the main sequence to do whatever and you can pick and choose where you want the probability of a ratcheted note. I guess that’s assuming your target synth has the ability to produce doubles, I had oneShot in mind. OneShot spoils you…
Edit: just tried this, can’t duplicate samples in oneShot either. Koala would work, but that’s selective on which app you use so not ideal. Ya, can’t think of an app with that built in functionality.
Yes. These are the two conditions I'm trying to meet. So far, @tyslothrop1's Drambo path is the most successful solution. As I mentioned before, my attempts at a MiRack solution are stymied by timing issues.
Mozaic is definitely on my mind.
