Cosmic Lawnmowers (LOL!)
I had a theory. It goes like this…
Songs with crazy, nonsensical titles get more plays.
I took a day off earlier this week and started creating something ridiculous. I was sitting on my back porch watching the landscapers jetting around on their standup riding mowers like astronauts. I thought… Cosmic man! I wasn’t even high at the time. Anyway, this is what I came up with. So far, after only a few hours, it’s gotten over 100 plays. Of course, it may fizzle out later tonight. I kept it to only 3 minutes in case it bombs. It probably will. Then again, if it does well, I might do a “long form” version. I’m open to suggestions for a silly title. Peace, my brothers and sisters.

I don’t have a silly title but I’m always up for an extended version. I’ll keep my eyes on your SoundCloud and my fingers crossed.
Hi Mac. Looks like it hit the wall. So much for my theory. We had a nice day yesterday. We went to one of our favorite restaurants and had a fantastic lunch. It was an “interesting “ day. Check out my other post. We’re trying to get out at least once or twice a month before I retire. Fixed income isn’t conducive to little luxuries like that. I can legally retire next month, but will probably keep working for a while. I think I would go crazy without something to keep me busy. This iPad music thing is fun, but would probably get old quickly if that’s all I did.
I just watched Pranks a Lot and The Target. Both are outstanding! I wish they could be a bit longer. I suppose that would cost a lot. The AI technology is extremely impressive. I’m glad to see you are using it for a good purpose. Others will exploit it for money and power. People are easily deceived, and that’s what it will likely be used for. The toothpaste is out of the tube now, and we can only wait to see what happens. If it’s as “intelligent” as it appears, it will quickly conclude that humans are not worth keeping around except as an energy source. Hmmm, that sounds familiar.
If you ever need some background music for a project, feel free to help yourself to anything. It’s always a pleasure to see what you come up with. You are extremely good at it!
Best wishes to you and the family. Have a great week!
@Paulieworld
I appreciate that.
I'm still trying to find my niche. Someone on X recently said, " X is a marketplace, not a gallery" and that's how it feels. The vast majority of what I see there are 5 second tech demos for subscription services.
If I wasn't in a Creative Partner Program I couldn't afford to make anything. Veo 3 from Google normally costs $250 a month for their Ultimate plan (3 month discount if you act now, only $124.99 for the first 3 months!!!). Runway is $76 a month for unlimited. Lower tier plans exist, but the AI crowd is all about the latest tech.
And even the latest tech models feel like using a slot machine at times. You need unlimited generations if you want fine control. You have to work with the random weird prompt interpretation or odd camera movements or color differences between generations.
There's a few contests and film festivals that I'm going to participate in and some offers for opportunities to get more exposure.
Building a "brand" is a full time job. I wanted to be a creator, but it feels like constant self promotion more than artistic expression.
Thanks for keeping up with my work. People like you make screaming into the void worthwhile.
If I come up with something I think is worthy of a Paulieworld sound track I'll share it and see if you agree. Our collaborations have always been a joy for me.
Are you doing this instead of mowing your lawn? Hard to mow with a martini, but you can iPad.
Happy Sunday, Paul!
I don’t mean to sound like some rich dude, but I leave the mowing to “the help”. They do a good job. They even go over the lawn twice and leave a nice diagonal crosshatch pattern. It looks marvelous. My dad always did that. It’s a habit that I picked up as a kid and continued when I owned my first house. Me and my neighbor Lenny would hang out at his fence when we both finished, and admire our work. I often miss owning a house, but this condo living ain’t half bad. I haven’t had to climb a ladder in over twenty years!
Happy Sunday to you, too!
If you can get your own hardware Wan2.2 is looking very impressive and you can get a lot of control in comfyui with controlnet etc.
Sadly I have an 8 year old potato for a computer. It takes 3 minutes to render out a 1024x576 flux image on my rig. I tried doing local video and got the old ltx models to work in comfyui, but it's painfully slow. If it weren't for the work of the open source community I wouldn't be able to even make images locally so I really do appreciate what they do.
If I ever do end up getting any kind of contract work from this I'll likely be looking for a new computer but that's not currently an option.
Appreciate the advice, though.
You can also use runpod and rent a system, some folks claim it be more cost effective than most services.
@MadeofWax Email Emilio and ask him for his recipe for garlic potato salad. It’s to die for. Well, that might be an exaggeration, but I would certainly stub my toe for it. Last year he joined us at our table and talked about his family recipes. We were hoping for his Crème Brûlée for desert, but it wasn’t on that days menu. He went back into the kitchen and made some just for us. It didn’t have time to cool properly, so he said take it home with you and put it in the fridge for an hour. We said, what about these nice fancy bowls? He said, just bring them back next time. If you’re ever in Chicago (God forbid), we’ll take you there.
Very funny Paul 😂
I don't think my PC would make a good salad. Too much roughage.
I'd love to be able to visit. If life ever lets me save a little bit I bet Lena would love a vacation. Just be warned. She's a Packers fan.
@MadeofWax No problem. I stopped watching pro football after the 85 Bears. Honestly, I would rather go to watch a good college game, with a little flask of peppermint schnapps and my old lady sitting next to me. If you save some money, take Lena anywhere but Chicago, or anywhere in Illinois for that matter. Did you know that there are 33 counties that want to secede from the state and join Indiana? You won’t hear that on the mainstream news. Florida and Texas are looking very promising for retirement. My sister lives in Florida and sends me listings. I have never been to Texas, but something about it calls to me. It’s just so damn big. We could get lost and disappear there. That would be nice.
@Paulieworld
I guess the grass is always greener on the other side. I'd leave Texas in a heartbeat if I could.
Lena wants to go back to Vegas for a vacation and I don't blame her. It was a fun place to visit. I don't care much for gambling, I just like the architecture and I enjoy people watching. I hear there's less folks visiting these days.
If you do ever wander down this way let me know.
I’ve given up trying to predict if a tune will please the SoundCloud algorithms… looking at your tracks you get a few hundreds and then a few thousands ? If you could bottle the essence of the ones that hit the thousands you’d be laughing 😊
Btw I enjoy your culinary adventures almost as much as the music 🍕🍔🍆
If I could figure it out I might even try to make a little money from this. My theory about crazy names didn’t work out. My latest was to try some extreme metal. A few of those got a some decent plays. However, it hit the wall pretty quickly. I probably won’t take up any bandwidth by posting it here on LPF. If you want a laugh, it’s called Runaway Train. The name says it all.
I hope I don’t come across as some sort of “foodie” snob. The thing is, my wife refuses to fly, and we have seen everything interesting within driving distance, so we don’t travel much. Instead, we like to seek out new and different eating experiences. Chicago, in spite of its many problems, has lots of that. Unfortunately, there are no places that feature traditional Icelandic cuisine. There was once an annual feast called called Thorrablot held by the Icelandic Association. They served all of the goodies such as rams testicles, boiled sheep’s head, lutefisk, and rotted shark, all chased down with shots of Black Death. I can’t even find a liquor store that has a bottle of Brennivin.
Some really nasty weather just rolled in, so I’m going back inside!
