Does reversing a clip alter its quantisation settings?

Hello.

I have four clips and they are all set the same. The play and stop quantisation are set to ‘loop’ and each one waits its turn before starting and ending.
If I set one of the loops to reverse it then seems to ignore the quantisation and it starts and stops the moment it is pressed.

Any help to correct this would be greatly appreciated.

Love you all.

It may sound counter-intuitive, but change the reversed loop from Phase Locked to Free.

The manual goes into this a little bit in the section on Playback Settings

If you turn off Phase Lock, then Play/Stop Quantization determines how loops will be synchronised with each other, as this dictates the start synchronisation. Default value: On

Reversing the clip should not change the quantization settings but it will switch a loop from phase-locked to free and, unless you use the phase-align clip action, it may put the clip’s clock out of synch with the master.

To help with your particular situation, it would be helpful to see screenshots of of your quantization settings and to see a demonstration of the issue.

  • @wim and @espiegel123 thanks you for replying.

I did as wim suggested and changed phase lock to free, and now the loop waits its turn before playing, although it doesn’t display the ‘clock hand’ countdown that moves around the loop.

Included are two screenshots. The top photo is set to play forwards as normal.. The loop underneath is set to play in reverse.

Apologies if I don’t explain things well or use the correct terminology.

Are you still having a problem?

  • @espiegel123 no problem, I just wanted to show that the settings were the same for both clips but the suggestion from @wim helped. Phase lock to free was the answer. For me you guys are like the forum Gandalfs, and I am grateful.
