On the Love of a Large Play Button

edited November 2014 in General App Discussion

Dearest Creators of Apps,

If your app has a play button, please make it big, easy to tap (corner, preferably) and always-present.

I have been spoiled by 20 years of a space bar.

Gratefully yours,
Will

PS. While you're in there stirring up magic, why not make it a play/stop or play/pause toggle button? Less visual and cognitive clutter, more space for a big button.

  • And... why not make transport midi controllable? Please.

  • I was just thinking the same about the play button recently.

I'm always running two or more apps together (outside audiobus) while just jamming things with different apps and I always want to hit the play button on the beat so the apps play roughly in sync. This is tricky with a tiny play button.

  • I wonder what is stopping developers from going modular ala photoshop. One could place and resize controls as he/she pleases

  • @Matt_Fletcher_2000 i use a Stylus it's more accurate than my digits but +1 to the thread topic.

Guess it comes down to screen space. Its an important button though!

  • Yes Matt Fletcher 2000 syncing apps, there's the art IMHO cheers

Hey, could someone make an accelerometer play/stop toggle? Like, I tap some side of my device and it can tell from the accelerometer and perhaps gyroscope and lack of touch event that I did that vs tapping the screen? Could we turn the bottom of our iPads into a big old spacebar? :) cc/ @midiSequencer? @dreamless?
