Yeah.. I know and also that I don't want to go deeper to that latency swamp, have been there with tens of audio interfaces in my past and all the hardware latency measurement and software measuring that especially in PC world. Even Our acoustic band have discussed how the player locations impacts to latency between players in rehearsals.. My use case in Loopy Pro is maybe not so common, so routing is simple from audio clips to mastering bus, without inserts and very simple routing.. so that probably explains feeling of immediate response while playing scenes. Additional point of this is that the routing is quite important, as well as latencies caused by devices.. But great discussion here, I need to probably simplify my template and use simple EQ+compressor+limiter combo, instead of doing it kind of overlapping with big plugins (meaning multiple effects in one) As I got full effectstation already in the template to record crush, ambience, performance glitches etc

Another way that I differ in opinion about this is that I believe throwing "mastering" type tools on anything before the mix is as good as possible without them is highly counter productive. How can one mix properly when tools are altering the sound constantly during the process? It just doesn't make sense to me.

But we all have our preferred ways of working I suppose.

@wim Yes our minds differs quite a lot.. And I like it B) Just liking to realtime mastering from scenes to "remix / song" clip. To create maybe in my case a bit poorly mastered song. Just like the way to play scenes like an instrument.. Maybe the results could be remastered in a daw still.. And this discussion was good for selfish reasons to improve my template.. Thanks to All! And sorry @yosoychema for interference with maybe a bit irrelevant content to your thread..

But still maybe the simple eq with like 6 bands and slight compression and a peak limiter would do just fine in iPad mastering

  • Wanted to share, because kind of because of this discussion, simplified the mastering bus of my template..

Made more simple mastering bus to my Loopy Pro template with LP's internal EQ and ToneBooster's effects Enhancer and Barricade. e.g.. stereo widening can be done with Enhancer and limiter is crucial to some overdriven sounds with e.g. crushers.

In my template mastering bus is routed to play mastering effects when playing scenes, so it's kind of "premastering" to get some characters out from the scenes.. can certainly also bybass all..

    Playing with one scene

  • Here is my master chain :

    • Mono / Stereo button (from AUM, to disable when recording)
    • Compressor : MagicDeathEyes Stereo
    • Multiband compressor : Fabfilter Pro-M
    • Tape recorder : Toneboosters Reelbus
    • Spacializer : Blue mango Stereo Width
    • EQ : Fabfilter Pro-Q
    • Limiter : Fabfilter Pro-L
    • Headphone simulator : Toneboosters Morphit (to disable when recording)
