JWM - Insomniac (2025 Edition) (Halloween 909 Day Bass House made in FLSM)
It's campy, Halloweeny, maybe a little cheesy and corny, but it was also a helluva lot of fun to make! 🤣 I made the original version of this track back in 2019 in Nanostudio 2, and it had decent production values, but nothing like how far I've come the past 6 years.
SO, the "story" of the track is an overnight cabin trip gone horribly wrong when a monster akin to the Michigan Dogman stalks me. It has hard beats, pulsing basses, and a general dark anxious mood to the whole thing.
I do hope you enjoy listening to this, whether because it scares you (probably not lol), or for a campy good time.

Love it! Too short though. I wanted more. You find a hiding spot to catch your breath. Then you take off running again only to realize you have been traveling in circles and you are back at the same cabin. You are in complete panic then headlights approach the cabin and realize you can escape. On the other hand there is something to be said about leaving them wanting more. I like the sounds. I think I might just pick up fslm and start a new piece on it. Great track. Thanks for sharing. BTW - never heard of Michigan Dogman. Is he related to Sasquatch?
Thanks mate.
Took me about an hour to gather all the external sfx I needed from freesound.org. OH! I also remembered that the huge dogman scream after the second buildup was sampled from a Youtube video about, you guessed it, Michigan Dogman.
Absolutely, mate.
FLSM is tops. If you're so inclined, definitely pick that up. I can help more in private messages.
In that the dogman is a cryptozoological forest monster? Yep. It's like a werewolf creature, but isn't actually a werewolf who can transform into a man and vice versa.
It was a huge phenomenon in the 80s and 90s and still has a cult following these days. There's also a book titled "The Beast of Bray Road" which is about one of the most infamous dogmen. There's also this song...
...which was originally a joke song released in the 80s, but blew up and became viral in Michigan (this was before the internet was even widespread as it is now). The reason it blew up is, the radio station Steve Cook worked at was bombarded with phone calls from people coming forward to share their personal encounters with the dogman.
I linked the 2007 version above, because that's my personal favourite version. Hope you enjoy that.
Giving this thread a bump. See if I get any other reactions/feedback.
Bumping one more time.
Edit: Guess nobody else cares for this track. 😅 At least Boomer did.
