Reloop keypad
Is anyone here using reloop keypad or keyfadr? I'm currently using 2 akai mpk minis but would rather to have it all under one roof, especially for power economy. How is the keyboard? Editing programs/assigning controls? Does it power from the ipad? Thanks
Comments
i own reloop keypad.works good with the iPad no problems,
I do not know the quality of the mpk mini keys .
the keys: ok but are a bit bouncy .but if you not a pianist its good enough.
good velocity sensitive, its has own arpeggiator and hold button that very cool features and very usful especially for synth apps that don't have those features.
the pads: are velocity sensitive but not as i expected I did not use them too much, until korg released the 2 new gadgets abu dhabi and bilbao the keypad just fit perfectly
with those 2 gadgets, so fun. the pad has responsive blue light when you hit them and its very useful and also looks cool. the keyfadr its a good option if you don't prepare to use the pads . much more portable.
knobs/faders: Relatively simple but nothing happened to them after a year of use.
Also very usful with ableton live especialy with the faders and related buttons.
there is no editing no editing program for mapping just the regular midi learn of the app/daw. its simply my workhorse when I'm to lazy to get my "push" out of the closet.
overall I'm happy with the purchase.
Thanks @Nivmile good to hear it powers off the ipad. I've been trying to snoop for the info and found that there's no editor yet so the midi messages that it sends cannot be changed. I know that CC messages can be assigned via MIDi learn but I use one of the akai mpks to change patches on Sunrizer via PC (program change) messages by pressing pads. Do you know if reloop has this capability? Does it get mentioned in the manual? I can't see a program change button anywhere on the unit. Thanks in advance!
The keys on mpk minis are spongy too. I got used to them
Hadn't noticed these. Lots of knobs but arranged a little awkwardly for soft synth control. Still, next time I get the controller urge I'll definitely see if I can find one of these. Pad sensitivity means a lot for me in a controller so I would want to try it first.
@Nivmile, thanks for the write up.
Dom, this article says the pads can be used to send program changes (at the very bottom) but doesn't get into the how of it. http://www.djtechtools.com/2014/07/01/reviewed-reloop-keyfadr-mini-keyboard-for-ableton-live/
The manual talks of PC too so yes. That's good news. Hope it can be left in PC mode like mpk mini without having to switch back and forth.
Great, glad you figure it out, ill try i hope in few days.
