    ick.

  • Did I woke up in 1990?

  • My knee-jerk reaction was "Ooo, a possible new challenge - build an EP in an early 90s looking DAW."

Five minutes of thinking after reading the description and viewing the screenshots - hard pass. Looks like a clusterfuck, and I want to actually be creative. Back to my staple DAWs I go. 🤣

    Ahem.

Back to Drambo you mean right? 🤓

You take that back! Cubase 1.0 on the Atari was a wonder of monochrome understatement.

Hahaha...no. 🤣 Fl Studio Mobile and Cubasis 3 are my music drugs of choice. I will (re)learn our Drambo someday, especially with the new module added recently! 😲 But meanwhile, I'm going to work on two things - a fast EDM song, and to make a piano arrangement of "Your Idol" from "K-Pop Demon Hunters" to play for one of my regulars who requested it. (Can't find the bloody sheet music arrangement, so I will make my own.)

LOL! I shall raise you a "doubling down" on my opinion. 🤣 DAWs have come a long way, so why be stuck in the past?

I’ve been running MTV music generator on PlayStation emulator in iOS.

Oh man, now that takes me back. 😂 My first "DAW" was MTV Music Generator 2000.

  • It does support Auv3 🙂

  • Look at the specs: it can chain songs and change their structure — it seems really powerful.
The interface isn’t the best I’ve seen, and there may be some omissions like automation, buses, and aux tracks. It also doesn’t offer that many tracks.
But for 12 bucks, the ability to change a song’s structure makes it a really good creative tool for me.

    It does tons of stuff.
And since I have all of the other DAWs, i am obligated as a completist to (probably) get this one.

However: its’s not backwards compatible to iOS 16, so it would have to be on the iPhone, which i think with this GUI would be like building a ship in a bottle.

There is no mention I can find of project export options.

So right now i will stick with MTV Music Generator 2000 on iPhone

  • It definitely seems like a great set of features, it is definitely in need of some UI work.

  • Daws really are for boomers then

    And I guess X too
And Millenial too, if my son and all his friends are any indication

  • Anyone else have issues with either white text on white background or missing text from drop down menus?

Yes - tapping in the blank area does work, but the text is invisible.

I sent a bug report in on the matter. The blank area works for me as well.

  • The dev pushed an update to fix the text display issue!

    Are you using on iPad?

  • I keep looking at this, thinking the features look wonderful, but the interface looks so so bad.
Even just adding a dark mode would likely help a lot. 🤞🏽

Great job fitting a ton of features into a small space though!

Using both iPhone and iPad. It’s fixed on both on my end.

I love the UI design. I find everything quickly and once I learn how to do something it sticks.

  • Are there nonlinear fade options at clip level on this DAW, eg ease-in, ease-out or s-curve fades?

  • I still say this DAW looks like a clusterfuck, but I wonder if there are any good UK 868 videos out there. Did Doug (thesoundtestroom) make any? $12 doesn't seem an awful price, and I like I can use it in portrait mode on my phone.

  • I’m very impressed by the dev’s turnaround time on that text issue. They responded to my email the next day and followed up a couple days after to let me know about the fix. I like the lack of sliding trays so I’m not doing a ton of menu diving. It feels a bit more on the Groovebox side layout wise - more Grooverider than Logic Pro.

The dev also said they’re open to multi-out AUv3 effects as a future feature, so that’s got me excited.

Well damn. That's awesome. 😎 And how does UK 868 compare to GR-II in terms of workflow?

I’m still getting to know UK-868 but the fact that it has an audio timeline already makes it more useful to me than GR-II. I’m not sure if this has a built in synth in the same way GR does but it’s not as front and center.

UK opens up to a Koala/Flip/Dawnbeat type sampler with a mixer and seems to lean on soundfonts. It would honestly be good for the game soundtrack you’ve mentioned.

This video is what got me interested in finally picking this up:

The manual is really well thought out and gives a great overview. I always prefer written manuals to videos.

This is so super helpful! I will check the video soon, but from what I've seen, I think I'm going to like UK 868. :)
