  • In AUM midi control there is ‘session loads’ and I have a list of the sessions that I use and they are assigned to a PC. From a midi footswitch I choose the PC to load the session I want to use.

Are you able to reproduce the issue with two sessions that just have loopy pro or loopy pro plus some synth I might have?

I’d like to see if I can reproduce this but have had no luck so far.

Does it only happen if midi is used for triggering in the loopy AU?

  • I was able to reproduce it, but I am not sure how I can send that. The AUM sessions/presets and their midi PC, are saved in the app and not in in the sessions. I have no clue how to send that?

I think it only happens with midi triggering. I would have to check again.
I am very busy at the moment and I have to find some time to look into this.

    Thanks

You would put the AUM session/projects in a folder and zip them and walk me through setting up the preset switching as you have it set up.

It has been a while that I posted this post. Been very busy. I still have the same problem. If I run Loopy in Aum with a rc500 or verse/looper template it randomly freezes when recording the second clip. What I found out that it happens after my previous preset in AUM had a different ableton link setting then the one I switch to. (Loopy acting as master or not) and it only happens when using midi to control loopy. On touch, it all works fine unless I even switch preset in AUM with midi. In that case I have the same freezing on touch as well.
I have tried it with three different templates: rc500esque, verse/looper and evl3. The same problem comes up with all of them. My midi pedal is a paint audio midi captain or an Mvave chocolat plus. No difference.

As I mentioned earlier, I have been unable to reproduce this and have tried quite a bit. I need a step-by-step guide showing the setup of the projects and any AUM setup and bindings. Copies of your AUM projects would help.

Hi Edward and others that are reading

It took some time for me to respond again. Sorry about that. I tried to figure out how I could make this problem as clear as possible. I have created a zip file of two AUM presets.
1st preset Verse Chorus loopy as the master:
2nd preset Verse Chorus loopy as Slave of AUM.

    https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/djknweqohs80hwgr8lkx1/AUM-Loopy-ProFreezing-problem.zip?rlkey=ra77xei8yze00liz64y4jg1bn&st=zbreki89&dl=0

    They are explained below.
If I use these preset just on touch with no midi pedal, they work fine.

    The Two presets:
There are two AUM presets containing Loopy and two sequencing apps (Helium and Euclidian) that each control a percussion app (Shaka and Ting)

1st preset Verse Chorus loopy as the master:
Loopy is the time master and AUM syncs to loopy

footswitch A: Clip A record - play - overdub hold: clear clip A

footswitch B: Clip B record - play - overdub hold: clear clip B

footswitch C: Clip C groove (threshold recording) records - play - overdub. hold: clear clip C
footswitch D : stop (after cycle of playing is complete) double tap: immediate stop hold: clear clip A, B,C

2nd preset Verse Chorus loopy as Slave of AUM
AUM is the time master and Loopy syncs to AUM. THis way I can start the percussion in AUM and have loopy be slaved to that. You start by staring AUM and then record in Loopy.

footswitch A: Clip A record - play - overdub hold: clear clip A

footswitch B: Clip B record - play - overdub hold: clear clip B

footswitch C: Clip C groove (threshold recording) records - play - overdub. hold: clear clip C
footswitch D : stop (after cycle of playing is complete) double tap: immediate stop hold: clear clip A, B,C

    My problem:
When I use a midi pedal and switch between the two AUM presets then the 1st preset with Loopy as the Master will crash now and then. It sometimes just happens soon, sometimes it takes a while. The fact that it only crashes now and then makes it so hard to explain, but you have seen the screen recordings I made a while ago.
It happens when I switch from the 2nd preset (AUM as time master and Loopy as the slave) back to 1st preset (Loopy as the master) If I record the first loop and then the 2nd loop it crashes on recording of the 2nd loop. It records a tiny fragment and then freezes. If I clear all the loops it happens again when I start recording again. Only after leaving AUM and ‘killing’ the app I can restart AUM without a problem. Till it does it again.

The problem is somehow related to Ableton link, but it is not clear to me how. If I set things up not using Ableton link then this does not happen, but it limits some other things so I would like it to work with Ableton link.

    My system:
    Ipad Pro 12'9 5th generation/IOS 18.7.2
Midi pedal Mvave Chocolat plus or Paintaudio midicaptain
Audio interface is Xsonic Xtone pro

    I hope this is clear.

    Thanks for helping me.

    Kind regards, Marc

  • Looks like I have found a solution for the freezing problem. I have switched of the mic acces to Loopy Pro in the Ipad settings. Loopy Pro still records when it is in a slot in AUM that way.

It is the same solution that worked for me using Borderland in AUM and for which I had a thread going a while back: https://forum.loopypro.com/discussion/57677/aum-and-iaa-problem/p2

It is working now for a full day with no problems.

Great that you found a solution. Very mysterious.

  • yes, it is mysterious. But that was also the case with Borderland. I was in touch with Chris at that time and he also had no clue.

I hope my solution keeps working. I will keep my fingers crossed. Thanks Edward
