Input signal panning before hitting looper

Hi there Loopers!

I'm just boarding on to the loopy pro train after years of working with Ableton for live looping and have some questions for the experienced community here:

At the moment I'm trying to begin by replicating my current setup in Ableton. To do so, I need to be able to midi control the panning of my input signal before it reaches the looper. In Ableton I've accomplished this in two different ways:

  • by putting a Utility plugin before the looper in a track and midi-mapping the utility's panning knob
  • by putting a looper in a track's send and midi mapping the track's panning knob.

What is important for me is being able to midi map my controller to send a loop/phrase to a specific location within the stereo field going in. So, I may pan some sounds hard right/left, others less hard panned, others in the middle, etc.

I'm sure I could set up individual loopers to have specific panning settings in loopy pro, but being able to pan the input signal allows me to have these panning settings within a single looper, thus keeping the looper count much lower. Hope this makes sense...

Anyway, I was just hoping some people here could give me some pointers on how to set something like this up.

Thanks in advance!

David

Midi learn the balance knob on the input channel. To do that, show the mixer, turn on midi learn (by choosing it from the main menu), tap on the balance knob for the input’s channel strip.

  • Easy as that! Thanks for the tip :)
