Setting up multipurpose button Rec/Play/ODub

Hi there!

So, continuing with my plan to "translate" my current Ableton looping project into loopy pro, I'm running into some difficulties getting the basics of the setup up and running.
In general I'm super excited with Loopy as I see so much potential for customization. At the same time, however, there are so many "deep" parameter controls that I find myself struggling getting what would seem to be easy stuff set up properly.

In this case, I'm just trying to midi-map a button of my controller tu function as a multipurpose Rec/Play/Odub toggling button.

So, just step on it once to start a recording, step on it again and have the clip play on. Now I would like the same button to let me toggle overdub on/off. If the clip has been stopped, the same button should play the clip.

I have been playing a bit with the "actions" "Play/Stop" and "Record" but I can't seem to make the button behave as expected. Not sure if these commands can be used simultaneously at all...

Would really appreciate any tips from the more experienced around here!

Best,

David

The record action behaves that way. Set the “if clip had audio” option to “play if stopped, overdub if playing”

  • Thanks again! Yes, I started with that but kept having problems when triggering. Seems like it might be a problem with the midi commands by controller is sending because I just tried it with another one and it worked right away...

Use a midi monitor to see what your controller is sending. Ideally, you wang momentary response ON sent on press and OFF sent on release.
