how stable is Cubasis these days?

I'm slowly transitioning to Cubasis, and I just encountered a nasty bug, most AU instruments in my project (3/4 Drambo tracks, 1/2 Dagger tracks) reset to init (and the patches I was using weren't saved as presets). Does that kind of thing happen a lot? Should I reconsider switching?

  • I am surprised to hear that, Cubasis as been rock solid for me for years.

I would contact Cubasis support to report the bug. They are ussually very responsive to bug report.

  • Seems otherwise rock-solid but I’ve had an issue with the Audio Damage AU DubStation 2 silencing a track when it’s turned on. Looks like there might be a slight issue with AUs then but I’ve used it daily for the last year and it’s the only issue I’ve had. Equally it might be something to do with Dubstation not being updated for (I think) about 7 years.

Drambo and Dagger are both from the excellent BeepStreet, I don’t know if that has any bearing on things beyond coincidence

Yeah I was quite surprised as well. I'd file a bug report if it was something reproducible (or at least I could point at something that caused the problem), but this seems to be impossible to pinpoint. Hopefully I'll never encounter it.

Well, it's not exactly a coincidence, since I didn't use any other AUv3 instrument in that project haha.
What is weird is that some instances of Drambo and Dagger weren't affected. I think some AUv3 effects have been affected as well, but can't bring myself to reopen that project now.

  • Hi @alexwasashrimp

We've released Cubasis 3.8 this morning, which also includes many fixes and improvements, next to the new feature additions.

How many instances are you using? Some apps are limited how many instances you can open in a DAW. Like for instance, my favourite synth, DRC - Imaginando limited it to 5 instances. I don’t know if that’s still a thing. What’s your DSP like in this project? Usually when Cubasis doesn’t open all AUV3’s correctly it can be traced to an issue and often turns out not to be an issue with the DAW.

    Hi Lars,
I haven't had the issue since then, so I don't know for sure whether it has been fixed in 3.8. I have noticed that Dagger automation is still broken (like the last screenshot here) though.

It opened the AUV3s, it just lost the presets in a few of them. I only had 4 Drambo instances and 2 Dagger instances with fairly low DSP usage.
