Haha thanks. Most of my stuff is dark. Not even by design, it just comes out like that!
Thanks for listening, it’s much appreciated :-)
Oh and Carl Orff? Wow! Carmen Burana is the bees leg elbows!
I find this album to be very well made, well thought out, and a joy to listen to. Yes, the music has a sinister edge to it, but that's one of many things I love about it. I can't wait to hear more music from you, @klownshed .
The main way we interact is by actually playing stuff; I'll jam and come up with ideas and Steve will say "That bit, do that again", or "are you recording this?!?" and we'll then iterate on that bit. And vice versa.
I do enjoy that kind of in person collaboration. You often end up with stuff that works which I may not have noticed on my own. Editing is a big part of writing music. Knowing what to keep and what to trash is key. Having somebody else edit your ideas can be really good as long as you both have an understanding.
I have some equivalents on desktop via Musio as I thinks some of the staffpad sounds are from CineSamples and Musio includes all of the CineSamples library. But I don't use StaffPad.
I'm pretty much Mac Only for music now. I still like iOS for coming up with ideas and for jamming out song ideas using BlocsWave but Logic on the Mac is where I actually make all my music.
Thanks Jim! Much appreciated. :-)
I’m glad you like it. I’m not sure why it sounds so sinister, it just kind of comes out like that! Although I do seem to be allergic to major chords.
Lol! Then again, major chords can be melancholy given the right vibe to whatever you're creating. 😅
@klownshed havent listened yet, but I have it in the stack of albums to listen to.
Looking forward to hearing what you guys have here!
This is great. Very accomplished sounding. Each track inspires a movie scene in my head.
I'm sure I can make major chords sound miserable and dark whether I try to or not!
Ahaha! I can't wait to hear you experiment with that.
Thanks! I hope you like it. If you like your music dark there’s a chance you will :-)
Thank you for listening. I’m made up when anybody wants to listen to the whole album. :-)
I’m glad you like it!
I might throw in a major chord on my next track when nobody is looking ;-)
Be sure to tag me in the post when you post it here mate.
I just got back from work feeling really tired. Perfect listening for sitting on the couch in a dimly lit room while not wanting to think about much.
Glad it helped you relax :-) Not everybody is happy sitting in a dimly lit room listening to this, I've heard that it gives them the creeps!
Ah, but it’s getting darker in the evenings, and I like to listen to melancholy or unsettling music as it gets dark. I have over an hour drive home, and once it gets dark in the evenings for my commute it’s my way to relax and just let myself fall into the mood without taking on that mood myself.
Cool, I know what you mean. Melancholy/unsettling music doesn’t make me feel that way either. I don’t need to feel miserable to write miserable music!
Thanks again for listening. It’s such a nice feeling knowing people willingly listen to your music!
