Pitch Bend or Mod Wheel with Loopy Pro (and Elpiano)

Do you use either pitch bend or mod wheel in your setup with a midi keyboard controller and Loopy Pro?
If so, any thoughts/lessons learned.

Would like to setup Klevgrand Elpiano to respond to pitch bend and mod wheel, but can't find any first class way to do this, wondering if I'll need to get yet another plugin to handle the pitch bend and mod wheel functionality and add as an effect to the same channel as Elpiano

  • Yes, I use Linnstrument with various plugins loaded to Loopy Pro and it works fine concerning PB and MW. Is Elpiano supposed to respond to these types of messages?

  • Thanks @cube48, I had expected it would, but didn't find anything in the manual saying it does, so perhaps not.
Also tried to midi learn the pitch bend and mod wheel on my midi keyboard controller to some of it's effect parameters, but neither of those physical controls on the midi controller were recognized. All this is new to me, so perhaps I'm missing something obvious, but I'll keep exploring

Loopy Pro doesn’t midi learn pitchbend as a trigger. Mod Wheel is just a cc and can be midi learned.

If your controller is sending pitchbend and midi cc’s like mod wheel , they get sent to the destination. If ElPiano doesn’t respond to them , the host wouldn’t matter.

  • Makes sense. Being new to virtual piano/synth plugins, I was expecting what I consider a high end plugin like Elpiano to respond to pitch bend and mod wheel, but I guess it doesn't. Thanks for your response @espiegel123

  • Have you verified with a midi monitor that the pitch bend and mod wheel are in fact received?

@wim, I added an instance of BLEASS Monolit to the project and it reacts to both, which convinces me...did you have anything else in mind?

Nope. Just making sure that basic troubleshooting steps are carried out. That's good enough verification.

  • Original electric pianos like Rhodes etc didn't have pitch bend, so I wonder if Klevgrand intentionally decided not to implement that (I've never checked)? You could always write to them and ask them to add pitch bend ability, maybe they'd do it.

  • Thanks @wim, really appreciate that! @Gavinski, good idea, I'll do it! I like the WHIRL/Wurlitzer sound on Elpiano, I know you have a lot more experience in this area than I do, are there any auv3 plugins with Wurlitzer sounds that you think are worth trying/comparing?

    Thanks
