Take a good look at Drambo and GR-16/Groove Rider 2, both can automate synth and FX parameters just like the P-Locks on the Electrons. So can Dialekt from Sugar Bytes which is more an in-the-box solution rather than the open structure of Drambo for example, which can host auv3 synths and fx. It can be so much deeper than the Electron will ever be. Drambo also has super easy midi mapping so you can hook up midi controller for that hardware feeling.

ok good ole drambo does it all. thanks for the ideas.

  • Of course, there is nothing that will replace the immediate action of working with the hardware. And meaning you will have endless more possibilities in Drambo isn't necessarily a better thing. To be limited to one box and work within that closed environment can be fantastic.

  • yeah, there is something to limiting yourself to one thing, that can encourage creativity. i really love the tone of the electron

I am kind of drooling on the Electron Modal Cycles, precisely for that reason, limitation.

  • Drambo. Make templates, this way you can imagine it as being multiple machines. Then, host two different Drambo machines in AUM. Maximum fun.

what do you mean templates, like save as a session. or save and treat as it’s own instrument. i like the idea of multiple drambi in AUM

  • No but Sugar Bytes Drumcomputer is powerful in its own way.
I also like Waldorf's Attack Drums.
If you want to get close to Analog Rytm then I guess there's no way aroung building your own in Drambo.

man funny you say that, i just started digging back into drumcomputer, and learned you can import your own samples, and figured out the sequencer. this may be the way to go

  • I feel like Battalion is a good comparison. Especially with the modulation and macros. It lacks scenes/patterns but apparently that’s coming. Super fun drum machine and a great sampler.

oh cool. yeah i tried a early beta version of it, but it was a little buggy back then, so i never really got to dig into in and my beta expired. i may have to look into it later if it goes on sale or something

Yeah, as it's own instrument. Create 8 tracks with synth sounds in one instance. Pick an oscillator like FM, make 8 versions of it. Then, fill another instance with 8 samplers.

Digitone + Digitakt combo using Drambo.

  • Melody bud ?
It says in the description its in Elektron style.

I don’t read that. It does have P-lock features, but you can’t manipulate synth settings like you can with the Elektrons/Drambo.

  • I thought it said elektron style but now I also cant find that anymore. 🧐

  • Have you tried Tahti?

The original is web based but the dev is/was testing an auv3 version:
