Digistix2 sharing patterns or songs

Hi, I am new to drum machines. I have never felt comfortable with drum machine apps until I tried Digistix2. This one seems to fit me .I have entered several songs manually with 24 patterns each in an effort to learn drum programming. Now I want to transfer them from my iPad to my iPad Pro.

Best practices info would be greatly appreciated. The folders in the file app show no data even though there are several songs saved.
Thanks

  • Here's a video to get you started from the developer himself. See how that works, and if you really want to get the most out of Digistix 2, see some of the other videos on the site. Note that some of the most interesting features for the 4Pockets apps are often covered in videos that combine updates to multiple apps in one video, so look for Digistix 2 in the title.

"This video explains some of the newer import and export features found in DigiStix 2 that were not part of DigiStix 1. We also go over changes to the melodic remap function in this tutorial and discuss a few tricks and tips. IMPORTANT: To use the 'Export to WAV' and 'Mixdown to Pad' features make sure both 'Song Mode' are disabled and the song chain is empty. DigiStix 2 needs to be able to run its own transport when using these functions."

  • I’d also recommend checking out this tutorial:

It doesn’t address your question but it really opens up the possibilities and capabilities of Digistix 2. The app ain’t just for drums 😉

  • Thank you for your suggestions and help. I am working my way through these.

However…..these are so much more advanced then what I am trying to do at the moment.
I really just want to send the DigiStix data (patterns arranged into songs because I don’t know another way to save them) on my iPad to my IPad Pro.
Is exporting patterns to midi the same thing? I am guessing it is not.

Is it possible to back up the program to the cloud and then restore it on the other device?

    Thanks again for your help,
    LooseBruce

I’m not sure that I can help you, but if you want to back up your songs, you can open the menu, select Backup and choose Backup Songs and it will export all songs to a file. You can then use restore from the menu and import the backup of the songs, but caution is needed because I think restore overwrites any existing songs. If you want to share, export and import individual songs , open standalone, and use the folder icon with the arrow at the bottom and you can access all of your songs via a Mac or PC in a web browser. With these two options you should be able to backup/restore and/or transfer your songs to whatever device you like.

If you mean the program and its data together, the answer is no. The program itself can be installed on another device from the App Store, provided it uses the same Apple ID as the other one. The data (songs, etc) can only be transferred as mentioned above.
