Plugin to remove clicking from audio input ?
Brusfri works fine but there is still some clicking going through. Are there any plugins that can be recommended to remove clicking / transients and have a fairly low latency ?

Yeah, maybe some gating app. Pro-G by Fabfilter is the main thing I use for that. What's the clicking caused by though and how loud is it?
I have an iPad 9 with headphone TRRS jack. Recording through the built in microphone or an external USB audio interface is no problem. The clicking appears when I try to use the headphone jack as audio input. It does not matter if I connect a headset with microphone or use a simple iRig TRRS -> headphone / instrument adapter to connect a synth, there is always an audible regular metronome like clicking. I tried a lot and it's neither WiFi nor Bluetooth interference and the clicking is still there after the upgrade to iOS 26. My guess is it's a problem with the hardware (iPad) because my older iPad Air 2 does not click. This video (not mine) shows the problem on an iPhone X: https://reddit.com/r/iPhoneX/comments/1ga9mkc/why_does_my_iphone_x_have_clicking_sounds_while/
I usually use USB audio interfaces and this does not matter. The question arose when I was thinking to use the small iRig adapter for travelling and just filter out the clicking through some plugin.
Hmm, I know iZotope has some desktop tools for this kind of thing but I'm not aware of an iOS equivalent
Wow, that's a pretty bad click alright, what a bummer. Get the iPad looked at maybe? Brusfri is definitely not a good solution for a click like this as it sounds like it covers quite a chunk of the frequency spectrum. Pro-G might be better. Either of these would be fine if you just want to listen without the click frying your head, but recordings might not be very usable. The best thing would be to repair the hardware for sure, or maybe use some desktop tools like IzotopeRX.
Thanks for the suggestions. I think I won’t go for a repair and rather invest in a small audio interface for travelling.
Just a wild thought, this: I’m no expert and may well be talking rubbish.
Is it something like a sample rate mismatch? Does the clicking still happen when using voice memos? If so, it’s probably a fault, but if voice memos is click free it might be worth experimenting a little with sample rates.
I tried various sample rates and buffer sizes without any improvement. This seems to be a hardware thing because the volume of the clicking changes depending on what device is connected (headset with microphone, iRig adapter with or without synth connected). Someone suggested that the connected devices draw too much power compared to a standard Apple headset mic. So I might experiment with modding the iRig adapters circuit ( try different resistor values etc.)
Can you listen to your phone’s internal circuit with an external mic and emf loop to determine if it clicks without any input?
An interesting idea. I came across reports from people who problems with audio clicks in their iDevices that were caused by the camera constantly trying to focus. Interference from the coils that move the lens caused the clicks.
I’ll definitely get one of these pickups. I remember them well from the 70s and 80s when they were widely used in external amplifiers for the old rotary dial land line phones.
Turn siri off
Just kidding 🤷♂️ I dunno but when you said it was metronome like, all I could think was buffer or sample rate mismatch, cause that’s what would make it cycle
My guess is the clicks have to do with the iPad hardware voodoo magic that detects what type of device is plugged into the headphone jack. I mean it's not hat much magic, it just checks the input resistance of the mic input and configures the jack accordingly. A resistance of about 1KOhm means microphone and switches the output form TRS (headphones only) to TRRS (headphone + microphone) jack.
I can recommend… great fun listening to random stuffs!
There is even a complete synth, the Chromaplane that uses them:

I already ordered three pickups for some inductive audio fun. And much cheaper than the synth above. It might be interesting to experiment with feedback loops by using the pickups on coils (speakers) driven by the iPad output and use some effects in between.
