Cross page selection talk.
I could really use some help with getting an idea to work.
Page A i have a series of clips all diff colors, and i select them with a controller.
Page F i have a series of midi clips that I would like to play in series. I have got this to work with a widget with play selected and a select action. This works very well when the widget is on the same page. if i copy the widget to page A or a make a widget that triggers the widget on page F on page A, when playing, and on page A (sometimes on page F) when i activate the widget i will get the clips on page A will begin to cycle and play.
If I can get rid of this unwanted behavior I will have made a drum machine of sorts. Beats are on dials, and the dials are genre based.
I am trying to get a fill button working. I am wanting to hit the button to play a fill , and when the dial changes beat a fill will play first.
Very close to having this working but I am running into a couple of hickups to get the exact behaviors i am looking for.
TLDR: clips are cycling select on multiple pages and triggering clips from multiple pages.
Thank you.

Maybe instead of selection i can use a dial. I have been having some trouble getting the timing correct and then tend to play to long.
another option would be to have them all play and use mutes. then i have to figure out how to make them cycle as i want to have a random clip fill in.
I am having a little trouble following the description of what is going on. It is a little hard to picture. Selection was intended to be something related to the visible page.
You may be able to set up a dial that selects particular clips on particular pages and use that.
I am having some success with the dials in being able to choose and activate the clips from another page, however the problem i have not been able to resolve is the quantization. The clips ten to overrun. I also have trouble getting the midi channel to mute for the midi clip to pass thru so it resume the prior midi clip that was playing.
I can get the clips to play and stop in time with a button widget. However using a dial and the same setting the clips play for six beats. maybe i am over looking something.
You will need to show us the settings for your dial and the details of your actions and a screen recording demonstrating the issue. The actions work no differently in dials and widgets.
Depending on how you have it set up you may want to disable state feedback in the dial. Also take a look at whether you want the dial actions to trigger in the dial change or only on activation.
See the manual and wiki article about stepped dials for more about those options.
I got it working.
The culprit ended up being clips that stated they were in 4/4 and the tempo matched my project tempo, but the clips would run for 6 beats.
after i fixed the clips it got a lot easier.
I abandoned using select commands. They are persistent per page focus even via clip follow actions.
