Collaborative online DAWs with MIDI support - suggenstions / experience ?

edited October 2025 in Desktop

I am interested to hear about your experience with collaborative online DAWs that allow the sharing and collaborative editing of projects.
And I am specially interested in solutions that have full (input and output) MIDI support. Many collaboration solutions like BandLab only support audio or use MIDI input for their own virtual instruments.
My search lead me to https://skytracks.io. Is anyone using it ? I tried it on my Linux computers and it worked well with Chrome - even with MIDI tracks. However, the fact that their latest blog entry and latest update of their low quality iOS app is over two years old is making me cautious.

The ideal collaboration solution would include the following:

  • Cross platform - runs on Mac, Windows and Linux so all band members can use it.
  • Ideally available as a mobile app for iOS because of the lack of WebMidi on iOS.
  • Full MIDI support (input / output) so both hardware controllers and external synths can be used.
  • Ideally FOSS (Free and Open Source), run on your own server and use your own storage backend instead of AWS us-east-1 ;)

Apples reluctance to implement WebMidi made me put this thread into the desktop category.
