Arpeggio or Sequence via..... Delay + Pitch Shifting via MIDI Loop

Hi Everyone,
I am trying to make an arpeggio or sequence in Loopy Pro.....via a combination of

  • the arpeggio or sequence will be 16th notes at 80 BPMs
  • an initial plucked note on my violin (played every quarter note)
  • a delay plugin set a 1/16 repeat intervals, synced to the host (LP)
  • a MIDI loop in Loopy Pro, where the MIDI note on message - via a MIDI binding - change the shift frequency of the delay plugin thereby changing the pitch of the note being repeated

WHY THIS APPROACH... it's a hard and fast requirement that I play, at least the initial note of the sequence or arpeggio on my violin (this will be used in live performance); rather have it MIDI generated.

WHY THIS APPROACH.... it's very difficult (nearly impossible) to pluck (pizzicato) 1/16th notes at 80 BPM (to pluck 16 successive notes) ; however it's easy to pluck quarter notes at 80 BPM.

WHY THIS APPROACH.... I want the arpeggio or sequence to have a realistic plucking sound of a violin

sooOoooo question 1) Given that I cannot pluck 16 notes cleanly at 80 BPMs, but I can pluck the quarter notes cleanly at 80 BPMs; and that visually I must play or pluck the initial note of the arpeggio or sequence....... is there a better approach?

question 2) How do you map the MIDI binding values which are Zero to One; to a shift in frequency values in BLEASS Delay? see pics

    Your problem is you play your violin under your chin like some weird ... violin player. If you played it the cool way like a guitar, using a plectrum (as I used to do to drive my poor Jr. High orchestra teacher absolutely nuts) you can absolutely shred like a metal head. 😎

    So is this what you want to happen?
    Play a note - repeat 1 is -2 semitones, repeat 2 is -4 semitones, repeat 3 is -7 semitones, no more repeats because that’s 4 notes. You want that to happen for any note you happen to play?

    If so, you don’t want to pitch shift in the feedback loop and automate the shift, you want to use a modular.
    Can you try this as an effect?

    The delay times are .188, .376, .564 for 3 16ths at 80bpm with the delay range set to 1s

    Edit: Pretend that bottom red line goes all the way to the mixer since “audio in” is the dry signal from the input….whoops

    Edit 2: I suppose if you are sharper than me, you can set those delays to sync on 1 beat and just use .25b, .5b, and .75b so you can change tempo without using a calculator :D

    @MonsieurCheval Ah yes, Drambo to the rescue. I have Drambo.... but it seems complicated on what to connect to what. I see the modules you have connected and this seems like what I am trying to accomplish. I have added a video link to my post.

    Doesn't Drambo let you define delays as a fraction (1/4, 1/8, 1/16, etc.) of the host clock?? This seems like a standard need for delays? What if I changed the tempo to 84 or 72, then I would have to go back into each of the delays and change them.

    Thank you for showing this setup. I really need to take some Drambo lessons.

    You can also just follow the colors there. Drambo fx has an input from your daw on that main block. The main goes to all three delays. Each delay runs through a pitch shifter. The three pitch shifters (wet signal) and the main (dry signal) get mixed at the mixer…that gets sent out of the fx slot in your daw. The pitch shifters knobs control the 3step sequence from left to right. Give it a try!

    Unfortunately not, but works fine as IAA in an AUM fx slot.

    ... this would allow you to "build a personalized delay" directly into Loopy Pro.
