Gatelab original gone from App Store too?
…
Gatelab v1 was an amazing plugin, very underrated. I like the "granularity" features in this one.
Also just a quick reminder (from my friend @klownshed) that Logic Pro for iPad has a similar cool stock plugin called StepFX.
It doesn't look that different compared to version 1, looks like they just wanted to make some money out of it
Gatelab 1 was free.
Is the main difference just that this one sends midi too?
Yepp, but you can still download it if you previously got it...
(The AppStore page for the app is gone but download works).
I personally gave up on AudioModern long time ago due to their obsession/fetishism of using microscopic fonts...
Ditto. They’re even unreadable on my MacBook Pro. Seems like they are determined to stick with a user-unfriendly UI.
Maybe they’re in cahoots with the glasses industry (“Big Glasses”) like dentists and sweets companies…
🤣 "Big Glasses"
Funnily enough, I remember complaining to the devs about this a few years ago, since the App Store description of the original iOS release did advertise Midi Out as a feature despite not actually having it. I assumed they just copy pasted the description from the desktop version lol.
Actually, I dove into this after writing it. V1 does have midi out too. But was it not working? That I didn't check.
Oh, the old one can’t be loaded in a midi fx slot, so no, it can’t send midi (can only be loaded in audio fx slot, when loaded there, doesn’t send midi out even if midi out is turned on in the app). Does the new one have the same problem or a) can it be opened in a midi slot and b) does midi out actually work when you do that and turn midi out on?
Could anyone with Gatelab 2 ios version confirm please:
a) can it be opened in a midi slot and
b) does midi out actually work when you do that and turn midi out on?
I’ll throw in another reminder (from yours truly) that Drambo has a similar cool stock module called Gate+Velocity Sequencer.
Which you can use to trigger custom envelopes! And the envelopes can be modulated themselves! And and and
I just got it. It works in AUM in a Midi slot. When you do that Midi out is on automatically and you can’t turn it off.
It took me a minute to figure out exactly what the hell was going on, it seemed like it wasn’t working correctly at first.
But I figured out the CC numbers are off by one in this app, since it only offers CC# 1-127, not CC# 0-127. So set you CC# one value lower in AUM than you set in Gatelab 2, and everything works as expected.
