Chris Isaak - Wicked Game (instrumental cover)
Hey, folks!
A year ago, I decided to pick a simple tune for a cover and chose Chris Isaak's "Wicked Game".
And I couldn't even imagine that it will take me so long to finish it. First, I made a draft that was very similar to the original song, but that was boring
. I decided to re-imagine the song and its style, but all the versions I made were too much worse than original. The idea of this song is so simple and elegant that it's really hard to find another style that is not 10x worse than the original.
Then I took a break, made several other things that I also posted on this forum. And finally found the style I like. I hope you will like it as well.
For the arrangement, I used everything: SWAM Sax, DPP + Battalion for the groove, GSi Model D6, VTines, and a ton of effects.
Two very interesting things I will really remember for future:
- A combination of Saturn 2 and UA Needlepoint works really well for adding more "texture" to the SWAM Tenor Sax
- Also, I like how Eventide QVox + UA Bass Mint combo made my guitar sound like a bass

Lovely relaxed feel to the whole thing and a great mix of instruments… great work 👍
Good stuff
I like it and i also understand your difficulties with this song. glad you gave it another shot
Hey! Thank you all for the kind words
.
It was really a journey and I think I will shift to the shorter format now with a more stable workflow, to have more practice with less overhead for shooting and recording
Nice track! Simplicity and understatement are qualities that are wilfully overlooked by most artists, but can produce beautiful results; as demonstrated here.
Thanks for posting it.

Thank you for listening it
