Is there a way to use a multitrack midi sequencer (Prism) in Drambo? How? [RESOLVED .. yes there is]
My goal is to record Prism’s midi output to Drambo’s sequencer where Prism and Drambo’s tracks/channels directly correspond to one another .. example: Prism track 1 only plays and records on Drambo track 1; Prism track 2 to Drambo track 2, etc..

Comments
@wim to the rescue maybe? Something came up recently about routing potentially being tricky with Drambo but I’m interested in how it’s handled.
I was a beta tester of Prism but that phase is over. I'd love to help but Prism isn't available in the EU anymore.
It's supposedly back in the EU now.
There could be various solutions to this but I'm going to suggest the simplest, in my view.
Load Streambyter in standalone with no script installed. Place Prism in any track (I'd use Main, myself.) followed by a MIDI Out module set to output to Streambyter.
Set each track to listen to Streambyter on the channel that corresponds to the track number. I like to do this with a midi input module, but you can do it with track settings too. Change each track setting for Receives MIDI to
Always.Prism's tracks each output on the midi channel corresponding to the track number, so you should be done.
The reason for "bouncing" the midi off of Streambyter is it simplifies recording to the Drambo tracks. The way recording from MIDI plugins to tracks works won't do well with the multi channel output from Prism.
tbh, I find recording from midi plugins the designed way a bit cumbersome. I prefer this way anyway.
If you don't need to record midi to the Drambo tracks then you don't need to use Streambyter. Just put Prism on the main track, a channel filter on each track, and connect the midi input for each channel filter to the Prism output.
Thanks @wim .. this is what I was looking for.
Two points of note ..
Took me a sec to realize I also had to set Main to listen to Streambyter, and to set Main to receive midi: never (without which, the sound was fritzing out) once those were sorted, your steps worked perfectly. Thanks!
Humm. I don't see why Main needs to listen to Streambyter. That seems like the last thing you would want to do. But OK.
Ok .. just set it up again without changing Main’s input (left it at default setting: All) and it seems it’s changing the setting, Main receive midi: never, that keeps things from fritzing out ..
I would suggest the use of sub tracks: Create a “Prism” track that loads prism. Now add as many subtracks (add module track…) and feed the prism output into these tracks. Then set the appropriate MIDI channel in each subtracks properties.
That should do it.
This is how I would do it, plus a Streambyter midi AU after each channel filter to use its REC button to record to the Drambo tracks. I tend to always prefer this instead of messing with track properties setings.
We talked about this recently, wasn't that the most reliable method for recording multiple tracks to Drambo, or were the other methods equally good?
TIL about Drambo sub tracks, thanks friend!
I don't do it that way because I really don't like the process of recording using the AU Module REC button. I don't think you have to change the track settings if you use a midi in module.
I know it's not the "native" way of doing it, but using Streambyter externally works a lot better for me. It's also closer to the way I set things up when using both Drambo and Prism as plugins in Loopy Pro.
Is there any script you load in streambyter or is it just for the rec button in drambo?
No script, just for the rec.
Thanks for the clarifications, @wim.
Yeah, thanks again @wim .. works like a charm.
