Samplers as an audio interfaces - pros and cons to SP and P6

Hi All.

Trying to explain according to my personal experience something like 8 benefits and 5 cons with using Roland SP404 and P6 as an audio interface with iPads. Could use with MacBooks and PC's but haven yet checked that. Using a modest bluetooth speaker, so sorry for the sound quality, that was not supposed to be the key in this.

Got no sponsors and just saying my honest thoughts on devices and of course something about my Loopy Pro Templates, because they are so useful.
I'm not covering all and will have some deep dive videos later..

Got a huge number of shorts in my Youtube channel, done spontaneously with P6 and also including SP or MPC and other hardware with iPads as well as Loopy Pro Template related - maybe some of them could be intering to check also..

  • Hi. One additional comment. Need to buy probably something like Marshall Acton III to my setup to keep it still quite portable. Bluetooth speakers normally have some latency even with aux. Surprisingly this Charge 2 don't (Harman Kardons and Sony I have tested have too much). Even AI recommended IK Multimedia iLoud Micro's rather than bluetooth speakers. But for portability I would like to have one with battery at least.. Any thoughts?

  • My vote would be for ikea vappeby gen3. In particular, the ability to use two as a stereo pair, where the connection to the input is via cable, and they are paired with each other via Bluetooth. An excellent portable speaker for monitoring, without the bass and midrange frequencies being distorted due to DSP. It has a convenient volume knob instead of the awkward + and - buttons found on almost all portable devices.

@Dobre_Trava Thanks for the recommentation.. curious to check on my next Ikea visit. Might still rely more more propably on some small studio monitors from Yamaha, Adam, Genelec etc👍

  • Minirig 4 could be worth a look if you want battery powered. No latency on aux in, can create wired (or wireless) stereo with 2 units. Optional subwoofer.

  • ok thanks @zzrwood, I will look into that option also
