Tera Pro and Fugue Machine Rubato maxing out CPU

I’m using AUM to host Fugue Machine Rubato and Tera Pro and the two are using ~90-98% CPU. I do have a few other plugins but none are active so I’m pretty sure that means they’re not really using any CPU load.

Are these two apps just that intensive? I admittedly had a pretty complex setup in both - RingZ and BrainZ in Tera combined with 4 Fugue playheads with moving notes. But maybe I’m missing something in settings that would better optimize usage. Maybe a different host would be better suited but Fugue Rubato hasn’t been the easiest beast to reign in using other hosts.

    Try isolating the problem. Send Fugue to another synth, something light. Sometimes FMR is sending more notes than you realize.

    BrainZ and RingZ modules can be more CPU intensive, but it depends a lot on other factors too ...

    What polyphony are you using? It can help in Tera Pro to restrict max polyphony to 32 - from memory I think it defaults to 128, whch can really devour CPU quickly if you are e.g. using an ARP and the patch has a long release time, for example. Some synths will pre-allocate CPU according to max polyphony, whether notes are playing or not, which will instantly bump up your CPU, but I can't remember how Tera Pro works in this regard.

    I remember having this issue until I set the lower polyphony limit a while back and it's been fine since.

    Also, what device are you using?
