Utility App to separate stereo tracks into mono?

Hi there,

anbody aware of an App that allows to separate the channels of a stereo track so that each resulting mono track can be processed individualy?

In Ableton this can be done easily with the Utility plugin which allows you to pass through a track in stereo or just one of its channels....

thanks for any pointers :)

  • Are you working in a host such as AUM or a DAW? Or are you looking for something standalone?

  • I would like to send stereo loops in loopy pro through an amp sim. Unfortunately the amp sim turns the loops to mono. My plan would be to send each oh the stereo channels as a mono track through the amp sim and hard pan the amp channel, thuis recovering my stereo field ;)

  • So, basically having two instances of the amp sim each processing one of the stereo channels

Somebody helped me here with very similar task. You can use 2 busses and use Stereo Splitter in ChowDSP BYOD and then use amp sim like I did here with 2 instances of Tonex. And Bus A is hard panned to left and Bus B is hard panned to right.

  • Oh nice, this is EXACTLY what I intend to do!!! THX for the heads up!

You are welcome. I found out who helped me, it was @espiegel123. So your thanks go mainly to him.

  • Oh yes, @espiegel123 is the man, as always :)

By the way, you don't really need to set up that stereo splitter device in BYOD. Just choose the channel you want audio to pass through from the drop-down menu in the upper left corner (next to the undo/redo buttons). Easy peasy :)

  • Yes, this is the issue I had when I wanted my mono guitar input to go thru 2 separate ToneX amps one on left side and other on right side.
It worked by routing the input to the correct channel in LP and outputting it to either left or right.
