My take: 2600 is mono/duo phonic and its normalised patch system and graphic layout makes it a good choice for learning about subtractive synthesis. Looks great, sound-wise, isn't particularly distinctive.
MS-20 is poly and has a patch bay that I've not yet learned to love. Looks industrial, sound-wise is distinctive in an lo-fi way.
There's likely hundreds of analog clones that could produce similar sounds but I'm drawn to the Cherry emulations having drooled over the unobtainable real things when I was a lad. Really depends on your backstory but if pressed, I'd say the MS-20 would better add to an existing palette.

    Thanks for yor reply @AndyHoneybone.

Its so much fun getting peanut priced synth clones of things that most of us have drooled over for years!

Will probably collect far too many over time, but considering the price of hardware is rising all the time and soft synths just get better by the year, its a no brainer really.

They’re both £17 each on Plugin Boutique at the moment, and with a purchase you get IK Mixbox free. I don’t have either, so I might take the plunge too! Probably more tempted by the 2600 though.

Just found the site. They do seem a little cheaper. They have UHE Bazille at £57 at the moment too!

They're pretty good actually, I've bought a few plugins from them over the years and never had an issue. Bit dangerous for your wallet visiting the site though, particularly if you hit the 'deals' tab...

Phaseplant keeps calling my name.....but I will be strong and wait until next year, after all Im mostly tweaking presets and Phaseplant looks like its reason to exist is for some proper programming sessions!

Don't know that one - probably just as well!

Fors have got a sale on now, don't think you have Max4Live(?), but you could run their plugins: https://fors.fm/devices

Tela is my all-time favourite synth, more powerful than it looks, and only £20!

  • Cheaper still at jrrshop with code FORUM

    https://www.jrrshop.com/cherry-audio-ca2600.html

Works out to be about £13 each, but obviously no MixBox free with purchase.

Blimey, that's cheap even for an iOS app. Not sure if I need/want MixBox, need to watch a few vids when I get some time.
