AIAIAI TMA-2 have a wireless option, 2.4Ghz wireless rather than bluetooth with the plug-in transmitter (although they can also do bluetooth). I use them for making music and/or guitar, very low latency, I've been very happy with mine.
Except of course you'll still need a headphone jack to plug the transmitter into...
@steve99 those look nice.
I should probably add more details.
I want to plug my midi keyboard controller into the single usbc and play/record/mix at the same time. Hence, I need some low latency audio options. I currently use a small usbc hub with headphone jack, but I’m trying to cut down on wires and pieces I need to be portable.
As far as I know “low latency” Bluetooth audio on iOS/iPadOS is still relatively high latency compared to wired options and non-Bluetooth wireless. I think you will need a hub of some sort. There are small lightweight hubs.
An easier option is get a Bluetooth midi controller and USBC ear buds 🤷
Earpods + tb Morphit is hella solid. Daily driver with a handful of Bluetooth controllers - m-vave pad/pocket/mixer, korg nanokey studio, launchpad x using a midi Bluetooth adapter)
(Lagless) Wireless audio is hella expensive and requires dongles for connectivity
Wireless controllers have been decent for decades
Thanks all.
I forget that I do have a BT 25 key midi controller. Never tried it via BT as I assumed it was laggy.
Well, it’s actually not too bad. Not perfect, but usable. I’ll look into getting something a bit higher quality and stick with the wired headphones.
FWIW I bought a cheap set of Razer Barracuda X gaming headphones off of eBay a few years back, which ended up being an incredible steal.
Super low latency wireless audio via the usb-C dongle - so low that I don’t even have any issues finger drumming with them. They sound decent enough too to my ears.
But of course it still uses up the single port on the iPad unless you use a dongle/hub.
Remember that Bluetooth midi has very little lag. If you think it's just OK and not great, adjusting the buffer in your host will probably make a big difference. Try a buffer size of 64, for example, if you need a really snappy response, though you won't be able to use many cpu intensive plugins at such a buffer size. Generally, just stay as low as you can get away with.
Thanks @Gavinski !
I have Sennheiser HDR 175, very low latency but unsuitable for music making. Too much bass (and mind you, gaming headphones have even more bass)
