Any Recommendations for Good Cheap Track Pad and Keyboard Combo for iPad?

Been wanting to see what everyone is using for Bluetooth Keyboard and a track pad that's fairly cheap but works for iPad. Any good budget friendly ones you would recommend?

I'm not in love with it or anything, but this one is OK: https://a.co/d/djtuEjK. It's not exactly cheap, but I picked that one for the backlit keys, which I often need.

The only reason I don't use it much is I found that I rarely use the trackpad. It's just reflexive to touch the screen anyway, so it only leads to momentary distraction subconsciously deciding which to use. I decided to bust out a bluetooth mouse instead when I want to. The keyboard I take with my iPad now is smaller and suits me better: https://a.co/d/7E7pRBV

  • Here's a less expensive one without backlighting: https://a.co/d/iPhfQio
Samsers has been an OK brand.

  • I just busted out the first keyboard I linked. I like it better now. My priority at the time was portability, so the folded size and the weight put me off just a bit compared to the second one.

  • I would love a magic keyboard but I think they're way overpriced, I can't justify the spend. Especially when I had so many bad experiences with having to constantly replace my smart keyboard, and when Apple don't make these keyboards future proof (if they change the camera design on future iPads, the case may not fit your new iPad). I settled for a GOOJODOQ version, much cheaper and it's working fine 2 years on.

Pro: has backlighting, this is a huge plus point as I like working in the dark

Con: no passthrough charging (that's a major disadvantage) and it's a bit heavy and bulky.

  • Magic keyboard and iPadOS 26 are starting to make me forget the iPad isn’t a laptop - in terms of user experience at least. Every update makes it less tablet centric and I don’t like that part. The new windowing system is a little rough without a keyboard and mouse imo

I agree, although the windowing thing is great in theory, it's much less good in practice once you've spent a bit of time with it. Needs refining.

  • I use a Magic Keyboard clone from ESR and have been very happy with it. It’s nice being able to switch to portrait when reading manuals and stuff.

I like that you can move windows around and resize with keyboard shortcuts but any menu items near the top screen now has a good chance of detaching the app from full screen mode. Nave drives me a bit crazy because it won’t go full screen and one of the menu items is underneath the red, yellow, and green window buttons.

Yeah it's gonna take years for apps to be optimized for that, if ever. And by then Apple will have introduced some new feature which will move the goalposts again. Must be very tedious to be a dev in an ecosystem like this, wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy lmao

I feel like a decent solution would be to have a “window lock” toggle similar to locking the screen orientation. In that mode you wouldn’t slide the windows around by pulling the edges and maybe allow keyboard shortcuts/cursor clicks to move the windows as options in settings.

Sorry, kind of off track (pun intended) but maybe relevant to selecting trackpads and such. @Tones4Christ are you set on a trackpad or would you be open to other inputs? I’ve really enjoyed my Logitech trackball mouse on the iPad. I use it with my Mac and a mechanical keyboard which is a nice combo. A trackball is preferable to a mouse since it requires less desk space to move the pointer (imo).

  • I bought a Magic Keyboard used on Amazon.

Thought about it. But desk space is limited as well. At least the keyboard track pad combo can save me a little space since it can place it on top of my midi controller at least temporarily.

  • It's not an integrated combo, but i love love love my original logi keys to go https://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Super-Slim-Super-Light-Bluetooth-Including/dp/B00R0I71S4/

It is not the best keyboard but it's SO thin and SO light you can keep it wherever and toss it wherever. Have had mine for ~8 years and still going strong. For a trackpad, the sad truth is I would recommend the apple magic trackpad. No others have as good multitouch gesture support, which for ipad, is key.

Love it! Amazing that I recently bought a used Logitech mini Bluetooth keyboard and it wasn't working well. But last night I repaired it with the iPad and it worked great!

I think I'm going to get a small Logi like the MS240 Bluetooth mouse instead. I realized I have enough room next to my mini midi controller for a small mouse. Thanks!

Any reason for a mouse? I really swear by a trackball/trackpad being optimal pointers for anything not a first person shooter. I was getting serious wrist pains from using a mouse but my trackball has been a life saver. It also requires much less desk space for actual use since it requires 0 movement of the device itself on the surface.

  • Oh wow that's awesome! I wish but way out of my limited budget. The Logo is gonna cost me $12. That's why I went for it. Otherwise, I would of bought the one you posted. <3 :)
