What do Cubasis users think of Audio Evolution Mobile Studio?

I'm not trying to start anything, I swear. I've been waiting months for Cubasis to go on sale, but honestly all I really need is to record guitar/vocals/hw synths, import audio loops from other apps, and arrange/mix linear songs. Maybe some midi recording/editing; nothing too complex, i.e. no 64 tracks of orchestral instruments, etc. or else I'd just do it on the PC.

I'm thinking AEMS will suffice for my needs. I'm used to the Cubase workflow on the PC, but AEMS seems easy enough to navigate. Having to press 'next' to change views seems tedious, but not a dealbreaker.

No need to thrash Cubasis :) I'm just interested to know if AEMS offers something that's compelled you to use it as an alternate/complement/replacement(!) to Cubasis.

  • Not quite what you asked, and nothing against AEMS, but have you considered Garageband? Does all that and a lot more and comes loaded with loops, samples, and native plugins. Totally free, too.

My iPad is so old, it won't run GB T_T

This is the problem with the Apple apps including the music ones like Gb and Logic. One is forced into the update/upgrade cycle. It is obviously possible for them to keep the apps backwards compatible at least to some degree but this might keep them from selling us the next device every 2-3yrs and thus reaching their next trillion dollar net worth

  • I had both for years, like a lotta people here. Both awesome. Not really an advantage one over the other. CB3 has in-house Halion Sonic and several other great sounds. AEM has Sounfonts in house, many really great sounds as well. CB3 has more drum loops & drum stuff inside, but AEM has drum packs as well. For me it’s like comparing two different model cars: Cubasis drives like a nice Lexus and AEM is more like a loaded Tesla. I realize I took up all this space to say basically nothing.

  • I forgot AEMS has Soundfonts in house! 😳 Now that has piqued my interest immensely since I have over 1000 of them stored on Dropbox. (They're also on my new M3 iPad Air for GR-II.)
