Neglect
This time of year. Especially this time. People are neglected. And there’s so many.
Thanksgiving to all. May they all be remembered.

Darn it! I wanted to give this a like, but it appears I already did. However, definitely worth a relisten. Heavy, beautiful piece of music you made, Mike.
Unfortunately, I feel like one of the neglected this year. None of my relatives invited me for Thanksgiving Day. But, at least I have some friends I consider my real family, and even though they aren't able to invite me over, they took me to a basketball game today. We're also going to see a play on Saturday together.

You are so right — I played an early thanksgiving dinner already at an assisted living center where families are supposed to come eat with them. In front of my piano the whole time was an old lady eating alone, nobody came for her. Other tables had laughs and conversations, not hers. She ate the meal alone. Was sad to see. I nearly came to tears when i played her favorite song. It was the only moment she didn’t look sad though. Music is such a great pick me up at these places.

Really nice improv. There were quite a few unexpected and unusual chords. I like the effect. I might try a few things like that in my latest. Have you ever thought about doing a video of one of your sessions? I would enjoy that and think others might, too.
Regarding the subject, we have a friend in her upper 80s and has no local family or friends. Karen had been her caregiver for a few years and they became close. Last year she had a fall that wasn’t detected for days. Fortunately, she is in a good place now, and we’re taking her to her favorite buffet for Thanksgiving. It’s not fancy, but it has extremely good comfort food and lots of it. I wish I could sneak a little out.
We hope you and Hilarie will be together for Thanksgiving, and maybe a little shopping on Friday. We like doing that. We don’t buy anything, but it’s nice to get out together for a while, and then we go for late lunch.

I for one prefer being neglected, my phone rings a couple of times per year and there's never anyone at the door spontaneously. I'm alone but not lonely. I can get a bit down from time to time but it usually passes quickly with the knowledge that most people are assholes anyway. 😂 Maybe you can do a tune for my sentiment (alone but not lonely) as well 😃

Not quite sad or happy, but a contemplative piece. Hopefully it was a good Thanksgiving for all in some way, and that we could all find something to be thankful about.
