Battalion, worth it?
Battalion is on sale, but still a high price (appswise)
Here it is €35,- now
Is it worth it?

I think you can d/l the Testdrive. I don’t have a link, maybe others do?
The public beta is still open, afaik. You could try it and decide for yourself

Yes, it's amazing.
yes -- I paid close to $100 for the VST -- it is a classic instrument
Oh no, now I’ve heard it it would be a yes.
My top app of this year. It’s incredibly powerful for all kinds of drums and rhythm uses, and with forthcoming changes (e.g. patterns) is only going to become more so. Also excellent for improvised/live/experimental use.
there is nothing like it.
its worth it, ofcourse.
but don't get it as a drum machine -
its way way more than that!
Well it is a drum machine and can do all of that, but as you say it does way more
Totally worth it.
I tried the test drive, but it wasn't for me.
My top drum design app so far is FAC Drumkit.
What @waka_x said👆🏼
So far, for me there is no click, and I don't like the small UI elements.
Exactly! Battalion is an extremely powerful drum synth. It is capable of some insane modulation and time warping.
Is Battalion AUV3? I'm not seeing anything about it being a plugin in the app description.
it is
@Grandbear Thank you! Will be purchasing today!
You're welcome! Since they've made it available, I'd still recommend trying out the TestFlight version (https://testflight.apple.com/join/Hf3JSxPr), I love it but I can definitely see how it is not for everyone
I'd say if your eyes can handle it go for it...
...for me personally it's a no-go as it suffers (in my opinion) of both TFS (Tiny Font Syndrome) MUIS (Microscopic UI Syndrome).
I did check it out during the beta and when it eventually dropped I said to myself that there's no way am I going to pay for it.
Doesn't matter how good the DPS etc. is. If I can't see WTF is going on how am I supposed to be using it?!
I do love this app, but the computer version might be better if you are blind like i am. I got a magnify sheet I use for this and a few other app maker designs...laughing out loud.
Honestly if I could lock the parameters of the patterns or sounds they’d have near 50$ of my fiat currency. Still it’s super fun and LEGIONS of synthesis options.
If you want more straight forward drum synthesis without a sequencer you CAN NOT GO wrong with FAC
I dont like the colourcombo’s, I cant choose and non of them is perfect.
Reminds me of Apesoft.
I do like that though its complicated I was able to use it after a few minutes.
In Oneshot I spent the first 10 minutes looking for the sequencer.
I like that battalion is a bit Autechre-isch but you can buy a lot of other apps for the amount.
But I will gonna buy it anyway.
Did you try the Rotate slider? You can get almost unlimited colors with that.
(totally agree on Apesoft color schemes)
Agreed. First time I opened it I was fairly overwhelmed but it’s not hard one your eyes and fingers know where to go.
I'm very much hoping for a FAC sale, really want this.
No. Thanks for the tip.
Now drumcomputer is on sale
Totally different from battalion but also fun.
I noticed the Sugarbytes sale and since there’s only a couple apps for iphone I checked out Dialekt because I initially shrugged it off since I already have Drumcomputer but I have to say, Dialekt really shows how much you can do if you design things for the phone.
I love UA but I wish they would invest resources for doing a proper ios port because let’s be real, it’s not practical at all
