SampleScape by 4Pockets- Released

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/samplescape/id6754957868

This one hasn’t gotten much attention since its release a few days ago. I’ll go on record singing its praises. Paul from 4Pockets has probably been one of the most prolific app developers. The sheer quantity and quality of his apps is incredible. SampleScape is one of his best. Plays great with Midi Guitar 2.

  • Sweet! Yeah this one is on my wishlist for sure!

  • Yes, this one hasn’t gotten much attention and I don’t understand it. The randomizer is something wonderful.

  • I was at first a little dubious that this filled new territory as I could see some overlaps with EvolverFX, especially using the Wave Cycle feature. I was mostly wrong--this app does mostly different things--and does it all in an easy and fun workflow. The randomize function has kept me enthralled for literally hours since purchasing last week. And finally: it sounds great.

  • I think product demos in all sorts of scenarios go the furthest. Because of ‘one man’s treasure is another man’s trash’ or perhaps because it just doesn’t fit your scenario the adjectives such as best or game changing can be misleading.

  • Masterclass:

  • Been enjoying using it since picking it up. Great for auto sampling from Desktop synths and coming up with new ideas.

I agree with you there, not only does the randomizer come up with something unexpected, it can also lead to ideas for a new track, Paul has a lot of good apps out there, they all have something exciting to offer

  • I fkn love Paul's apps- i have pretty much all of them, can't recall a single example of any ever crashing. Always forward thinking and packed with a buttload of features.

    Can't wait to score samplescape.

  • SampleScape is pretty awesome! My first impressions of this synth are from its presets, and this app sounds great. It might not be what the EDM/Techno/Hip Hop hipsters would reach for, but for those of you who want melodically playable presets that inspire spontaneous improvisation, this app is worth it. The concept is like a sampler and granular synth in a morphing wavesequence environment. I’ve only had a quick look at it, but the sounds of the presets are inviting me to dig deeper. I’ll need to spend some time on this one for sure.

  • Thanks for the demo…. I need more SF2’s with lots of samples to import into this and several other new apps that work with SF2 collections. The IAP SF2’s in Audio Evolution Mobile Studio are pretty good. I wish we had an SF2 packaging app. Is there a reason no one has scratched this itch for IOS users like some IP constraint?

  • @McD Great question! I've often wondered why it's so freaking hard to deal with SF2s on iOS and this app has again led me to shake my head in frustration. I'd love to be able to quickly/easily package up SF2s and import.

  • @lukesleepwalker and @McD, what are the kind of difficulties you're running into regarding sf2s and Samplescape?

We are lamenting the lack of an app that can create new SF2 files on IOS. I’m only aware of the Polyphone app for windows and Mac OS. Not sure why no one is writing suck an app. Complaining helps slip devs a clue there might be demand.

Loading SF2’s already located in other apps or at Music Artifacts into SampleScape other 4Pockets apps is not a problem.
