It's So Pink !!! | A WTF mashup

Some time this summer, I challenged for fun my friend @luxthor to create a mashup. I set the rule that it should include at least (but not exclusively) "Le Duo Des Fleurs" from Léo Delibes' opéra Lakmé and The Benny Hill show closing theme. In return I was challenged to create a piece including at least
Carl Orff's Carmina Burana 6 Tanz and Danger Mouse credit theme.
The casting of my mashup ended up pretty huge. So now the challenge to all of you: find the list of artists and samples used

  • I hope this will motivate @Luxthor to share his piece which is extremely good !

  • Okay, that was, um, different. LOL. Thanks for sharing this. I needed some weirdness this morning.

  • Marvellous, reminds me of Frontier Psychiatrist by Avalanches, which is a compliment of the highest order!

    Insanely creative, inventive, and fun.

That’s a fantastic piece! 🤩 Purely inspirational, an out-of-the-box extravaganza. Capturing the impossible musical connection between Orff’s Tanz and the Danger Mouse theme, and then wrapping it up in your own vision, is no easy task. But you tackled this challenge in no time and exceeded all expectations. Bravo! 🏆

Thank you for listening, Sir. Sometimes weird is what is needed 😄

Not weird at all if. you've ever listened to the likes of Lemon Jelly, Avalanches or even Kid Koala.

It reminds me a lot of Lemon Jelly and it's fantastic. Entertaining stuff :-)

  • I always chicken out from these challenges, and you did an amazing work! Sampling, mixing and mashing up needs skill as much as playing an instrument 👏

🤣 I’d be interested in the mashing process.

It was a challenge project for Jean and a few other close friends, it’s not meant to be for the wide audience. But I’ll send you the link via PM. 🤫

I have no intention to force you doing anything, but IMHO, your piece is incredibly well crafted and produced and deserves to be heard.

Avalanches big yes! The brothers Dewaele from Soulwax also have a funny mashup DJ project called 2manydjs that I was quite enjoying in the 2000's.
Btw, I know you love for lyrics so here is the philosophical masterpiece for you:

I heard that you're a pink Barbie girl in a poney club
I heard that you're laughable, unphotographable
I heard that you're a cherry rosy bunny rabbit
    In a rosy rosy shrubbery
    Oh it's so Pink!
    I heard it's so Pink!
    I heard it's so groovy !
    I heard it's so rosy pink !
    I heard it's so groovy !!

    I heard that you're a pink sledgehammer
    (Say it ain't so...)
    Oh it's so pink !!!
I heard that you're a pink Barbie girl in a poney club
Crawl right up on your knees !
    (Say it ain't so...)
    Your knees !!!
Crawl right up on your knees !
    I heard
    say it ain't so...
    Your knees !!!
    I heard
    Ooooh it's so pink !!!

    Pink!
    I want a little bit !
Get get get get it !
    Pink!
I want a piece of it
    Say it ain't so

    Right up on your knees
    Ooh it's so..pink,
    I heard
    Right up on your knees
    Ooh it's so...Pink
    I heard
Right up on your pink knees
Ooh I heard it's so right pink on your knees
    Oooh I heard pink

    !

That 2manydjs album was insane, I loved it. The bit where Destiny's Child segued into Nine to Five by Dolly Parton is one of the nuttiest moments I've ever heard.

Will catch up with Lemon Jelly. This seems to have the perfect dose of madness for my twisted mind
