I believe one doesn't need what doesn't have (kind of). But this time I was talking about wanting it. I'm surely buying it.
Do you need the MIDI Expansion Pack to use virtual midi and that kind of stuff?

I keep saying "no more synths no more synths" but this is too good to pass up and I'm weak. I suppose it's much better than running the iPhone version on the iPad?
I did not get midi expansion but then I am happy right in the world of animoog and I run that into Cubasis. It will receive midi but not transmit I believe without the expansion pack.
Is Animoog at £2.99 the same as it was at £20.99? It's not a limited version? Can't believe they would drop the price so dramatically!!!
Animoog was $0.99 when it came out. They've dropped it to $2.99 several times. Absolutely one hundred million percent worth it at full price. There are lots of great synths on iOS but there are a few that I'd call special and Animoog is one of them.
You do not need the MIDI IAP to control Animoog via MIDI. The IAP allows you to send MIDI out of Animoog. If you want to capture your performance on the keyboard tines as MIDI data (poly aftertouch for example), the IAP is the only way to do it as far as I know.
I bought it when it came out for 69p, and picked up the iPhone version for free a while later, though I payed full price for Filtatron.
Animoog' a nice synth, don't use it as much as I'd like though as I find creating my own sounds with it a bit if an ordeal. Thor's my usual go-to synth.
Yeah, I can see that. I haven't purchased any of the expansions and Animoog definitely sounds like Animoog. Slowing the XY business down and doing micro adjustments on the filter and thick pages can really get a lot of different (great!) sounds. Plus, that delay is just delicious.

Sorry for my ignorance but what would aftertouch be in this case?
Not iOS but Adobe Creative Cloud is 20% off for new customers. I took advantage

I'm confused about the 4 track recorder, is that message out of date cause i registered and it worked but when i reloaded animoog the message reappeared.
@Andy E check out appshopper, it tracks all the price increases and decreases of apps and you can register and set up an email notification for when prices drop.

In Animoog, you can assign poly-aftertouch to a host of different synth parameters like wavetable traversal speed or filter or whatever. The higher you play on the tines (vertically, not pitch) the higher the poly aftertouch (which, of course, isn't actual after touch but it maps it that way and if you have an external control with poly aftertouch it will respond the same way to actual after touch messages).
Thanks for the tip music machine.
Just bought Bitwig Studio for $199 at Musician's Friend. Know its kinda OT! but thought others here might be interested.
@busker You should enjoy NU's Historic Synth Giants packs as well as the Dawn of Electronic Music expansions. I can't recall the ones of those that might stand out, but the demos are very representative of what you get. Many of the patches are aimed toward specific sounds on iconic records ... Like GaGa in the Pop expansions, and Kraftwerk/early Depeche for the ones I mentioned.
If the interface seems too fiddly/busy and anti-iOS for anyone, then Player should suit your needs. It may even be preferable for some, regardless of price. About 12 parameters per patch can still be edited on Player, and I think there are upgrade routes, as someone mentioned.
Shit I got linked to the yearly holidays 2014 sales page on synthopia, lots of goodies to be had, lots of moniez I can not spend on this:(. I was looking at Air Musics Xpand2, it's half of at $49 (and a bunch of their other products using the promos down in the comments) though. Xpand2, seems like it's your typical all-round workstation kinda thing. But none of the sound demos sounded like anything special to me (kinda cheesy sounding). Still, anyone tried it? How does it compare to other all-round rompler/synth packages?
Anyway, linkage to ze big, and growing, electronic musician holiday sales 2014 on synthopia: http://www.synthtopia.com/content/2014/11/25/holiday-deals-for-electronic-musicians-2014/
dammit chris. Why would you do that?
@ChrisG Thanks for the heads up on Synthmaster. I'm cheep, so it's the $8.55 special for me. Tried the free version and fell in love with the Chicago Tribute 02 organ immediately--first VST I've bought since leaving for iPad some 3-4 years ago!

There's been a lot of talk about Synthmaster on this thread but not many iOS sales. Is this unusual for this time of the year? So far we got Moog and Virsyn apps. I'm new to the scene but given it's the day before Thanksgiving/Black Friday, I thought there would be more on sale.
I know this is only a tuner but it is on a huge discount "iStroboSoft" with some fantastic reviews. I just broke into my Thanksgiving/Black Friday kitty to buy it, I did not link because I am on the Australian iTunes store.
This app is by Peterson Tuners
Oh cool, I had my eye on istrobosoft.
We are having a huge holiday sale for iOS apps, JamUp, BIAS, and Final Touch are 75% OFF ($19.99->$4.99), all packs 50% OFF ($9.99->$4.99) Learn more: www.positivegrid.com
@mkell424 did you follow the link to Discchord? Lots of iOS apps are on sale.
Don't know if this is a black friday thing, but I've been watching Animoog and it just went on sale for $4.99
Audio Tools is $19.99>$7.99. If I had a real music studio I'd buy something like this in a heartbeat. Has anyone got this app?
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/id325307477?mt=8
Not much use to me today as my "studio" is wherever my iPad is. Often the kitchen table with headphones.
Laplace is on sale Finaly grabbed it.
I guess we buy a lot of apps these days. It helps to use the links on our fav ios music sites.
Xynthesizr is $5.99->3.99. Anyone have an opinion on it?

Where????
On my app-shopper it shows $5.99...Is it location thing?
TC-Data..? Wavemapper..? please ?
All Igor Vasiliev apps on sale!
Xynthesizer is worth it just for the sequencer. Probably one of my favorite iOS sequencers.
Laplace doesn't have a huge discount, but I'll probably pull the trigger on it anyhow because I'd like a good physical modeling synth.
Animoog dropped to $4.99 last year as well, and it is a no-brainer. It's possibly the best VA synth available right now in both hardware and software. I'm hoping that they discount some of the expansion packs like they did last year as well-I've heard a lot of people say the Model D is essential, and I'd like to check out the Richard Devine pack as well...
Last year, I think all the Korg apps were 50% off, so I'm hoping they will have another big discount between now and the end of the year.
As for all the VirSyn apps...I'm tempted to grab Tera, but something about the look of the interface puts me off, and I'm not really moved by their other apps. Could someone suggest a good video of programming Tera from the ground up? I know it comes with more presets than you can shake a stick at, but it really prefer programming my patches from the jump.
Last December I ended up purchasing a bunch of apps because they were highly recommended and on sale (Sunriser, Beat Maker 2, Magellan), but I've barely used them and don't want to do the same thing this year. Given the quantity of the VirSyn apps and the relative sameness in sound of a lot of them, I'm not sure I see much benefit when I already have most of the big ones; I'd much rather wait to see if iVCS3 goes on sale for something new in my stable.
