Fwiw I bought them (really to support Steinberg - didn't need more pianos) and like them a lot. After Pianoteq everything sampled feels stiff and unresponsive to play, but there's still value in having a palette of character options for production. These are no different, and I'd say they punch well above their weight (I think about 1/10th the size of their desktop variants but also about 1/10th the price). A lot of fine performance details like resonances are missing - particularly in the 700ishMB Etude - but wouldn't matter in a lot of mixes, which I imagine is the idea here.
Etude has lots of bright, defined Yamaha character, so cuts through a mix well. Verve is gorgeous and detailed enough to hold up in the more intimate soundstages where a felt piano might typically be placed (and would be my pick of the two for anyone only considering one). Live effects are good, presets are thoughtful and include things like pad layers. UIs are quite soothing.
They don't really challenge the best sampled pianos (the big GSis, the Pures, Ravenscroft) or the mighty Pianoteq, but they're very, very good and well worth the price.
