Pure Acid knobs jumping value when controlling via Behringer BCR2000

Hi,

I'm trying to control the Pure Acid knobs via the BCR2000 endless rotary encoders and I'm using the controller mode Absolute on the BCR.

It's working, but the values are jumping the first time when I move an encoder on the BCR.

I tried setting the Controller modes to relative 1,2 or 3 but then the knobs on the Pure Acid App just switch between 0 and 50%.

How can I stop the jumping values?

  • Hi. An absolute encoder has a current value, just like a potentiometer. So, when you begin turning, it starts by sending the current value. You need a way to send the knob position to the encoder, so it starts in the correct position. If that's not possible, you're left with jumping.

Relative encoders just send the direction of motion, and maybe an indication of speed of rotation. They're only useful if the app is configured to use that data.

That doesn’t sound to me like the BCR encoder is actually in absolute mode. You can find out by sending the output to a midi monitor. I you should see a continuous stream of values, not just two values.
