haQ attaQ Ep22 - Gods like fishing [Tutorial]

It is that time of the week again and time for a new haQ attaQ episode. Most of you probably know how much I love Propellerhead’s synthesizer Thor, and in this episode I am showing you how to create bass-drum sounds from scratch with Thor. :)

There is also some iOS Musician news included regarding Stuart Kilbride’s new album Burst and a Podcast from Doug and Colin from TheSoundTestRoom.

  • Thanks for the Thor tutorial @jakoB_haQ! Quite helpful for me.

  • Lol @ BASSY!! Really, really good tutorial, lots of energy and quickly edited. Great stuff. Doing tutorials where one doesn't fall asleep in the first 3 seconds is hard . I've watched quite a few so called professionals and their tutorials (in courses that costs money, not just music related stuff), and so many are just a snore fest. A favorite of mine in music land, that is great at his job becouse of having this energy going on, that it is oh-so important if you're gonna do tutorials, is Dan Worrall. And obviously u and BASSY the fish, now as well. :)

I have a t-shirt currently being printed which reads: 'I love Dan Worrall but he blows my mind.' Big assertive letters. Looking forward to watching this episode!

EDIT: Watched: @jakoB_haQ YOU also blow my mind. Am going to spend the next 48 hours telling Texans to have a Happy Bassgiving.

I am always muttering that 'everyone has Toast'. Right now Thor seems to be the girl I come back to the most, so glad to see someone flitting backstage with such proficiency.

  • Thanks. Very useful to me, too.

  • I will watch when I get a chance. Looking forward to it.

When are we going to see the result of that cubasis, midi designer, thor piece please? I'm looking forward to hearing how that turns out.

  • Hey JakoB,

Thanks so much for the shout out and kind words about my track (on Doug's radio show) at the end of this weeks show. Very nice of you and much appreciated. I'm flattered.

    Full track is at:

Let me know if you want an mp3 to really crank up :).

    Matt

  • Thank you so much! I am really shocked at how much people seem to like my latest video. I was afraid that my tutorial was too fast-paced and flimsy haha! I'm always fishing for laughs...oh dear.

  • @Matt_Fletcher_2000 The MIDI Designer - Thor piece is at an halt right now. With two vids per week plus the Interviews I am finding myself with less time over for making music. Right now I am focusing my spare time on the Buddhadrome project. I'ts gone 9 months since I started and I am still at track 4. :)

  • Nice video!

But I was wondering; are you mispronouncing the word bassdrum on purpose?

  • @Greg I can't answer that. I don't want to disclose my production secrets. ;)

  • Keep doing what you're doing.

Love your London/Swedish accent by the way!

  • Cheers Jakob, another great vid. love thor alot
