JWM - Let Loose (Electro House made on the bus)

This was originally going to have lyrics, but it holds up well on its own I feel. Made this on the bus ride home from work yesterday.

Thanks mate, lol. It was a long bus ride, so I had time to kill. I popped in my airpods, turned on noise cancellation, and I went to town in Auxy Studio. 😂 The track had a different title, I got stuck on writing the lyrics, so today I said "f it" and just released it as-is. I got better shit to do than waste time on writer's block. 😂

I'm sure there'll be more songs in the future, but I'm also interested in what aqeelaadam 's plugins can do. I'll have a play with those in AUM soon!

  • Busy on the bus......Well done, Jim!

I enjoy the up and directly in your ears production approach to the synths. Has a way of piercing right to the senses. Very cool and fun.

Cheers mate. :) I wanted to go for a drier sound for the synths this round.

  • Wow, I like it! It reminds me of Flat Beat, Mr. Oizo :)

  • I agree with @brisket comment. Don’t know how you crank out quality so quickly. The bus would have run out of gas many times for me.

I LOVE Mr. Oizo's music! One of my early 2000s influences. One of the best compliments I've received. I used to even have a Flat Eric plush that'd sit on my old desk back when I lived at the condo.

Years and years of practice, my friend. Some people do their 10,000 hours of practice and call it a day. In the past 25 years I've been producing music, I must've put in at least 100,000 hours (which is roughly eleven-and-a-half calendar years). Maybe it's my Autism which makes me obsessed with music, or it's my ADHD which, once wrangled in, helps me hyperfocus on creating music, or it's a combination therein.

Back at uni 20 years ago, I'd often work on music creation during lectures for classes unrelated to music (aka the mandatory non-music classes I really couldn't really give a shit about but still got passing grades in, lol). When living with my parents (which was cheaper than living in a dorm, at least at the time), I'd lie and say "the homework for my classes is difficult" as an excuse to stay up all hours of the night producing music in FL Studio.

That's not to say the music was well produced back then. The production values were dodgy at best. I'd also make songs with lyrics that were a bit shit. My songwriting has improved a lot, as you've probably heard from the handful of vocal songs I produced, but I'd still classify myself as mostly an instrumental music composer. Instrumental music is where I feel most comfortable.

I plan to take my personal music in a different direction soon. Not the music meant for "imaginary" videogames that I plan to create, which is to build a portfolio of tunes I can shop around to various smaller Indie game devs and mobile game devs. Rather, the stuff I regularly upload to Soundcloud.

You see, I've recently fell down the "Yanni rabbit hole" many years after the last time I did so, lol. Now that's music! I want to compose music similar to Yanni. Not to copy him, but to make good tunes along those same lines inspired by him. What an incredible talent.

Of course I'm just rambling right now, procrastinating on creating something new. 🤣 The "Christmas Blues" have really hit this week (and I don't mean awesome Jazz arrangements of classic carols) and have weakened my ability to create music. It sucks to be honest.

  • Musically an unfamiliar territory for me, but hey, I really like it! Catchy song and what's special is that it stays in your head. frenq
