i dig yo! i like all kinds of flows
just curious what everybody has been really liking lately

  • Depends on how much you got for iTunes yo. 😎😂🤣 But yeah, how much did you get? And what kind of music are you interested in making these days?

Currently I'm back into Gadget 3. I bought everything Korg had to offer in Gadget 3 over the years (IAPs, compatible external apps and those IAPs including Module Pro and all its IAPs, etc), so don't mind me. A studio in my pocket basically.

There's also Koala and all its IAPs which should cost you less than $20 if I'm remembering correctly. A masterpiece of a sampler, especially if you're into producing beats.

But maybe those suggestions aren't your cup of tea. If you can explain more of what you're looking for, I can make some suggestions.

Another big vote for Gadget here… you can also pair it with AUM to massively expand its capabilities. Piano Motifs or Scaler 2 in AUM can easily feed into Gadget for inspiration starters.

And Gadget's gadgets can be used as AUv3s in any host.

  • If you’re just wanting to scratch a purchase itch without using up all your new resources until you’re sure about more expensive apps, Low Poly Synth is worth a look. Dirt cheap, sounds amazing, and unique, as are all this dev’s apps.

If your an ambient/drone/experimental type of person, Exosphere is worth a look, as is Fauve.

  • Outgrowth...

  • I get joy from ExoSphere but am somewhat interested in Outgrowth myself… the negative reviews in the AppStore have me pausing the buy button, but don’t want to miss the intro price

I'd say to "go for it". :) I bought Outgrowth but haven't had the time to properly experiment with the app yet. I see you already heard rottencat's usage of it, so take that into consideration mate. :) All the best.

I was in the same boat, but took the plunge this morning. So far, I’d say it’s worth it - some of the presets are lovely (there’s one that might be a quick substitute for the late lamented Retro Piano, though I also have a MiRack patch for that). My one attempt at a patch so far came out really nicely with a hasty test sample of a dishwasher. Lots of potential I reckon.

  • I need to second Koala (with the Samurai and Mixer add-ons). Also, Ableton Note is super fun on its own, but I recently got into Ableton Live Lite (included with a purchase of Note) and importing your Note projects into Live is super awesomeo.

    Late lamented Retro Piano?

It was one of the older AudioKit apps that were bought and then borked by the same people who messed up Audiobus. I used to use it a lot.

  • outgrowth, must have missed that one. i’ll have to give it a look

  • Are there any particular types of music making apps you are looking to add to or improve upon your options? Maybe something specific or something more experimental…? A type of Audio fx, a midi fx/sequencer, midi controller, sampler/slicer, type of synthesis, drums, host/daw, type of instrument, groovebox/workstation, etc…?

  • Drambo and its IAP maybe?

no not really. I feel like i haven’t been paying as much attention to new releases in the last 4 months or so. just catching up on what kind of new apps are out there. and if people have ones they really like
