Is Pulse Emitter's piece of music considered Ambient?
So, I was curious about seeing other people produce Ambient in Korg Gadget (no matter if Gadget 1, 2, or 3), typed "korg gadget ambient" in the Youtube search bar, and this showed up as the first video...

I gave this live stream video a watch on and off throughout the evening, and I'm wondering if what Pulse Emitter created is considered Ambient. It doesn't really seem like Ambient to me personally, but I really love the resulting piece of music regardless. Remiinds me of those old-school synth tracks like Jean-Michel Jarre or Vangelis would make.
Well, regardless if Pulse Emitter's piece is Ambient or not, I'm inspired to create something similar to this! Just gotta find my SMK-25 and have a go at it. 😂

Comments
Sure sounds like what I consider ambient. (I skipped to the end to hear it.)
Not a piece I care for all that much tbh.
funny how much tastes and perceptions vary ain't it?
Like Wim I just skipped to the end to hear the track. (49:27)
To me it feels a bit more like dance music than ambient, in spirit. There are no beats, but it’s hard not to imagine beats being added, and the little builds and some of the rhythmic elements give it a sense of momentum that I don’t really associate with ambient.
That said, if you are going to make music like this and have to put a label on it, 'ambient' is probably still the closest fit, just because there isn’t a better one.
Daryl is a pal of mine. His recent album Tide Pools is grid music; syncopated, with “beats” . He has made some incredible, blissed out music over the last 20 years or so, some of which is definitely ambient. Check out his Bandcamp
Absolutely.
You say it's Ambient, and our friend @Gavinski says he wouldn't associate it with Ambient. If I had to label the music that Daryl made on Soundcloud, it would fit in with Electronic actually.
Synth music.
@Kashi , you should ask Daryl to come visit here and share his knowledge and be a part of our community. I'll post the link below...
