Auria/Focusrite Scarlett 2i4: Monitoring issues

Hello,

I have just recently set up my ipad with Auria and the 2i4, i'm able to record vocals into Auria, when I try to play back the vocals and monitor them using headphones plugged into the headphone slot on the front of the 2i4(One the front far right of it), I only get audio(vocals, recorded into Auria, and the harmony I am trying to sing) into the left earphone? Not both the right and the left?

I had a similar problem when I used Abelton Live on my PC, and there was one click/switch/setting I needed to change to accomplish stereo monitoring. I don't remember what exactly that was. Anyone have any ideas what I need to do to hear my recordings, and my live audio I want to record in both the right and left of the headphones?

Thank you!

Jason

  • Right on the front of the 2i4 there is an input monitor mono/stereo switch (just to the left of the main dial).

Also the knob above that lets you blend between monitor and DAW.

  • I wish the input monitor mono/stereo switch allowed me to hear in both ears. Still can only hear in the left one when I switch it. :(

  • That's not right - I can definitely monitor in mono in both ears.

  • hmm..... Is there anything I can go through, post to see what I'm doing wrong? A walk through or sumtin?

  • I don't think it's complicated, you just plug the headphones in, set the switch to mono, and that's it.

Just in case there should be a video on setting up the 2i4 on the Focusrite website.

It might be a hardware error - just out of curiosity have you tried switching your source to the second input to see if you then get sound in the right-hand ear?

  • One more thought: check the output matrix in Auria to make sure it's sending the signal in stereo.

  • ok thak you. have not tried the second input.

  • so.....not that everyone will care, but maybe will help someone in the future. My issue seems to have stemmed from a faulty 1/4"-to-1/8" inch headphone adapter. On a whim I decided to try another, and behold, sound while monitoring in the left and right ears!

    Thank you richardyot. ;)
