[Jamuary day 2] Letters to God - Boxcar Racer. A cover by FizzyLizzy27

Did a cover of Letters to God by Boxcar Racer. If you’re a fan of Blink 182 you should check them out - they’re a side project by Tom Delonge and Travis Barker from Blink. Hopefully my mediocre singing and folk rendition doesn’t turn anyone off from them haha.

@Gavinski hows the mic sound this time around for vocals? I used a pop filter and Banshee Nano as a vocal amp.

  • Your "mediocre" singing is very nice. You have a nice, lovely and soothing vocal timbre, and sing mostly on key. It's a lot better than my poor attempts at singing with my out-of-practice voice, that's for certain. Maybe someday we'll collab on a song (although not during Jamuary as I gotta crank out music fast), and only if you're comfortable with it, maybe I can treat the vocals with autotune on my production. We could do Pop, EDM, whatever. :)

Also, your guitar playing is stunning! :) I'm a fan.

Thanks a lot! I can’t say I doubt my guitar playing skills these days - my acoustic and electric might as well be another limb at this point haha. I’d definitely be up for some collabs! I know you’ve talked about making video game music and that’s been a long time goal for me. At the last I’d love to put guitar on any track - I’m all about genre blending.

Side note, I’ve been working on learning Gypsy jazz on guitar. It’s a very cool story of Django Reinhardt starting the genre after losing two fingers in an accident. Not much related to this other than I’m a believer in learning a variety of genres and techniques.

I friggin love Django Reinhardt's music! 😲 Oh man, have you ever seen "The Triplets of Belleville" before? That movie has some Gypsy Jazz throughout! Incredible movie!

  • Really enjoyed this — the acoustic guitar and vocals are a nice change of pace from the usual electronica/sampling-heavy stuff (which I also love btw haha). Simple and honest folk rendition, and it really works.

  • Agree with @tubespace , nice honest piece of playing and singing 👌
