Making a song but it's a mess.. Apple Loops and timeline help?

I'm making a cool song and I'm experimenting using Apple Loops I've made and I am noticing the Apple Loops are playing along with the timeline too. How does one use them together in some arrangement? Please forgive me but it's my first day really trying to finish my first track in Logic .
So far, I'm happy with the results.

    I've got some loops playing and then some action on the timeline. What's the best way to arrange this into a song?

    Push the little thing with the R (above the Roland -909) and trigger the loops while the rest of the arrangement is playing...
    (All these things are covered in the 'lessons' that ship with Logic. It's time well spent and You'll learn a lot).
