I think I discovered the best home studio setup 2025 - compact and movable
Hi All. Have tried so many small studio setup combinations, but this one is the clear winner to me from the 2025 gadgets and apps.
Setup:
iPad M2 Pro 16GB, 1TB
Korg microKEY Air (Bluetooth with batteries)
Adam D3v
Loopy Pro (Optimised templates for different use cases like recording or live sets or song making)
Lots of Auv3s
USB-c cord
Headphones (if I want to record through mics)

Audio through USB into the speakers?
Do you recommend the Adam speakers? I'm probably going to upgrade my boxy sounding M Audio AV30s
How is the bass on the D3v ? I was thinking of buying them but the Black Friday sale made the T5V cheaper by a 100$.
This is a very clean setup. I’d want a few pads but for throwing into a bag for table jams this is great.
My portable setup benchmark is “how many outlets do I need?” Recently it was a jimmy rigged festival setup to jam in hallways and hotel rooms.

iRig uses USB-C into m2 iPad Pro
Using my Launchkey meant either taking up another outlet and passing MIDI into the iRig or using the camera adapter with a simple 4-port USB hub to go into the iPad.
It all worked out really well. If I found some battery powered monitors or another portable speaker like the Honeytone it would be a great jam setup running on a charge and some batteries. I do prefer batteries over rechargeable since you can just swap in new ones if they die. I even ran a distortion and wah pedal chain. D-Volts 4 life.
Have you tried any other mini midi controllers you like?
Yes usb-c audio, I think it’s 44.1 Khz though the digital connection. D3vs are decent, but not sure how big the ’upgrade’ would be. I would maybe at least to 5”, 6.5’ to have deeper sound. Recommend always to go store to audit some, before buying. D3v has a headphone socket so that gives an option, but then it’s like a cheap usb-c to audio cord.. sorry want to be honest..
I have had T5vs as well. I think they sound deeper. D3vs you need to have very close, Passive bass radiators on side helps a bit, but not in far distance..
I like the Korg microKEY Air as in the setup.. best quality in Arturia Keystep 32.. keylab borders bother me.. some launchkeys are also ok, but minis has quite poor keybeds, at least 25 version..
I got the Blackstar Fly 3 and satellite speaker bundle on an Amazon Warehouse deal. Sounds surprisingly great iPad going into the line in! It's stereo from the line in as well...A lot louder than you think it's going to be. Lasts a good old time in batteries. Would be a great option for living room size jams. Easily keeps up with people singing and playing acoustic guitars. I've been using it on stage as my monitor for quieter full band gigs as well although I've got to get it fairly close to my ear for those. Would recommend!
